When Ofaloaf suggests a Hunnic culture remnant, that would really work best as a culture group, in which you can stick the Alans in, maybe a few other groups which were under Hunnic cultural influence during A: TW and survived.

At least I don't think it is, Ofaloaf's the judge here, but it sounds like it's about the Iranic peoples. We could have the Persians' many forgotten cousins move to Europe. Sarmatians and Alans and Sogdians and Khwarizmites and other Iranic peoples, along with Turkic and Altaic peoples.
