Max posted:Haha, I can't believe we actually did have a night kill. I was actually right about him being responsible for Amoeba. Yup. Had wins survived, we had a pretty decent idea as to who the power roles were and were going to start going after them more in earnest. Fortunately(?) that didn't happen and then the emerald showed up so we were able to just blend the two together. Quin was very good at IDing who Vanilla Town was, successfully recruiting each night (even if it didn't stick). And I just laid low, played the part of my handmaid cop, keeping in mind that my PM explicitly said Sane when we realized we were all cops.

So, also, for real, on Day 1 I was just legitimately concerned about trap phrases and that Kean had somehow tricked a whole mess of people into doing something bad. When I realized what was happening, I tried to disengage but obviously that didn't happen.

Oh! One more thing to say real quick-like: I am literally never going to have a lie detector role in any game I ever run ever. They are totally broken. If I ever do have a role it'll be so limited and weak that it would be better for the player to be vanilla.

EccoRaven posted:The first fire deaths were from wins's rolecop ability; all non-vanillas were given the flame. The second were from the emerald, which didn't get released until Night 3 to Hal's hands (and thus didn't have effect until Night 4). This was totally what I was thinking once I saw the Clarent group's rule posted. Too bad I was 'd to death at that point. This was a fun first experience and I'm glad I gave it a whirl. Sorry I wasn't more talkative. EccoRaven posted:- I loved the idea of an overeager vigilante paired up with a roleblocker ("CAGE THE BEAST!"), it is unfortunate on one level that they never decided to chain each other up properly. On the whole it hurt the town more than helped, but, it did help the town a LOT, especially with the night 1 killing. Gamer and I never talked about me caging him up. I figured as long as he seemed in control and scumhunting, it would be good. We kept each other up on what we were going to do to whom, and he never said anything that made me think "he needs to go in a cage now". After I said that Gamer was confirmed town, I started worrying, since my role PM only stated quote:You are confirmed town with him, and the two of you may speak freely OOT. By one interpretation, I figured it was legit, but then I came back around and ruminated on that single line.

Max posted:Those included descriptions of writing poetry, drinking from the wine cabinet, and failing to understand socialism. You may notice in the endgame flavor I incorporated your character's personality! Emerald Flavor. Fives death: quote:You stare into the emerald intensely; with no more servants to torment, you figure this is a good way to pass the time. The emerald is about as large as a fist, and it seems to glow internally, like a star. It also feels warm to the touch. Maybe inside it is a small flame, like a candle? You're not sure. You've never really been one for thinking too hard about things; it just didn't come as naturally to you as it did Laurence. You realize, though, that this emerald, if magical, could be the solution to your problems. It starts to glow a little brighter, and now feels hot between your fingertips. You've wanted to keep your mom safe, because she loves you and you love her, but, though you hate to admit it, you know she won't be around forever. Eventually she will be gone, but you'll still be here, and if all goes according to plan, with Laurence gone you'll have the Hall all to yourself. The emerald is now warms your face, and your dark room is lit with its soft green glow. Without your mom around, what good are you? You can fight people all day long, but you can't actually run the Hall all by yourself. Not without Laurence or Mom around to help you. The emerald is now as hot as a torch, and your fingers feel the sizzle of its burn. What you need is an administrator, someone who you can boss around and who will do what you want, but can also do everything else that's boring and complicated. The emerald is now like a roaring fireplace in your hands. This emerald must be worth a fortune, it's so huge and so bright and so wondrous. You could probably buy a whole mess of administrators to manage your life while you sit in the Hall drinking peach wine and growing fat. You could live the rest of your life in luxury and being free of your aunt's designs. The emerald has turned your arms and hands into ash and melts away the skin on your face. You will never have to worry about people trying to murder you again! You could finally just do what you've always suspected you should do: rule. Hal death: quote:You look into the emerald before you go to bed - it is very shiny. It seems to have a small glow of light growing from the center of it, almost like there is a small green firefly inside. It feels warm to the touch, tingling your fingers and soothing your spirit. You continue looking into it, hypnotically, and you begin to wonder what this gem is worth. The emerald grows brighter. You were the son of merchants in Dromay, the wealthy and sprawling capital of Arrentia, and they would treat gems like this as precious, almost holy objects. The gem begins to warm your face and chest with its heat. You remembered your mother would, once a year, receive a shipment of turquoise jewelry from Savomary, and spend the rest of the year trading them for all of the luxuries to which your family had grown accustomed: fine food, silk clothes, and the occasional ticket to a royal banquet with the Queen's Court. The emerald now burns uncomfortably between your fingers. The jewelry your mother traded though was nothing compared to this emerald; it is so huge, and so lustrous, that you could end your employ with the cruel Lady and her brute of a son. You could run away - tonight even - and use what meager wages you've earned here to hire a carriage, and a week from now you'd be back in Dromay, where you belong. The emerald is now slowly sizzling the skin on your fingers, the smell of burning flesh filling the room. When you got there you could talk to your mother's friends, surely she still had a few, and find a jeweler of good-repute (perhaps Queen Hecate's own personal jeweler?? With an emerald this big, the only limit is your ambition!). The emerald shines brighter than a roaring fireplace, and is twice as hot; your eyes begin to lose their vision. You could sell this emerald for thousands of ducats, and, maybe even a share of the profits once the necklace or buckler (or even CROWN?) is finished and sold. You are now blind, you lose feeling in your nose and jaw as they burn away into cinders. With the wealth you earned, you could forever and ever be rid of Ladies and their monstrous sons and conspirators and murderers and plottings - you could just eat until you are fat and then buy your way into the heavens by bribing the goddesses themselves!
