What a loving dirtbag though, ganging up with his equally dumb and thuggish brother to intimidate a volunteer ref.

edit: Uh that's a headclash, what are these commentators seeing that I'm not?

edit2: Croker arguing the penalty while Plum clearly suffered a head injury - despicable, somebody call 60 minutes....

It was a shoulder charge with an accidental head clash, the penalty was fair.

Broken leg/ankle is obviously a lovely injury but I think he should be able to come back without losing too much. I had originally thought he'd done his knee which would have been real bad.

Also baring an absolute miracle that's our season done.

I'm happy for those fuckwits to be scapegoats. Gould's comments about the issues in junior league in the Penrith area were concerning to begin with. Having two first graders behind the abuse of someone who I assume is a volunteer is completely unacceptable.

Hold off on the obituaries guys, most players come back from broken legs without losing anything. Depending on the nature of the ankle dislocation the ligament damage may be more troublesome but chances are he'll be back as good as ever early next season.

Wonder if Kearney feels he can still justify snubbing Benji Marshall for the UK series at the end of the year now? Leuleuai is also out so he'd be doing something stupid like Tohu Harris at 5/8 to partner Foran if he wants to be stubborn.

A broken fibula is no big deal. The dislocated ankle and ligament damage are a worry, but like you I'm confident he can come back as good as ever next year as long as rehab goes well. He might not be as quick as he was before, but he did get run down a few times this year so maybe his pace was on the wane anyway.

Benji should be automatic for the tour squad now.

Well he can't just drop the whole squad, there's second tier salary caps to worry about.

edit: also their captain and worst player is brother of the CEO so I don't know how that's all supposed to work for the coach.

Eh if you run down their team

Boyd
Maranta
Kahu
Hodges
Oates
Milf
Hunt
Thaiday
McCullough
Blair
Glenn
Gillett
Parker
Wallace
Copley
Nikorima

There's only a couple of guys there who you'd think command the big bucks Hodges, Gillett, Parker, Thaiday.

Milf and Hunt are relatively cheap, Boyd, Maranta, Kahu, Oates etc are still on fairly team friendly deals, Boyd is getting up there for a fullback, but the others were fringe players till this year.
Blair and Glenn were relcalamation projects IIRC and signed fairly cheaply.

It's a mix of young guys on "prove it" type deals, some up and comers who haven't had their big pay day and some established well paid vets. They're thriving right now because Hunt and Milford are probably the inform combination outside of Thurston and Morgan and they're both on cheap deals.

In a couple of years they'll have dilemmas but it's not suspect yet.

The Cowboys on the other hand have an all star frontline unit as well as paying big money to their halves.

MILF got offered $1million a season by Canberra and turned them down,I doubt he is on cheap dollars. Boyd is probably on $700,000 a season.

Milf is on 450 and Boyd is on 400, at least officially anyway. Broncos also have a lot of 8 year players who get in the 200k cap bonus as well.

e: Also according to this statement the NRL has basically come out and said the Cowboys are fine

e: Apparently in 2015 the loyalty bonus was changed to 300k and reduced to six years, which would include Copley, Hodges, Glenn, Hunt, McGuire, McCullough, Parker and Thaiday, and that is only the first graders. U20s and Qld cup are both included on top of that

I'm only going on what zerotackle claims, but Canberra also offered $1m after Milford had already signed with the Broncos. It'd take a pretty messed up dog of a rugby league player to turnaround on a contract like that

edit: also the 3PA system inherently advantages/disadvantages some clubs which seems counterintuitive to the idea of the salary cap.

900k makes a lot more sense for Milford, though 850k for Pearce and Barba is hilarious. Zerotackle shows Barba on 800k too, which the Broncos are still playing a bunch of

Every team takes ridiculous advantage of third party agreements and if the NRL was serious they'd stamp them out completely. I think their attitude is if you cheat within the rules you're OK.
