I bought all new appliances from Sears when I purchased my house, but I delayed delivery while I was doing renovations. Within a month of delivery, the Kenmore/Frigidaire fridge poo poo the bed. Long story short, it was a lemon that they wouldn't exchange or refund, even after I took to Twitter to shame them. They just kept sending techs for two months while the fridge wouldn't get below 46 degrees F. Eventually, I got the store manager to call in on my behalf and approve an exchange, but it was loving infuriating. I'll never by from Sears again. Edit: I forgot to add that they had no record of my delivery date, so they thought it had been in my possession for an additional three months which is probably why they wouldn't let me return it for a refund. The first time it did this I had to ask my brother what he was doing because I didn't think anything made in the past decade could be that stupid. *Abrasive interior materials. No, really, I had a sore spot on my loving elbow because the fabric felt like sandpaper. My old Volvo 240's sun-destroyed plastic shards made for a less dangerous interior. *poo poo fuel economy. It sure didn't feel any bigger than my CRV inside or out, but got mileage closer to my WJ than my CRV. Nope, I could've been riding in my brother's Civic Si instead, but it got rear ended and totaled two days prior to the trip. I bought my WJ the night before and wasn't ready to take a chance on a road trip (in hindsight, it would've done fine and been far better). The executive at GM who honestly thought whatever pittance they made from whoring those shitheaps out to rental companies was worth the brand damage is the real terrible car poo poo.

So my dad had some small wheel noise on his 2013 F150 which he was taking back to the dealership to have checked out. While there, he was having them also change the oil. Cut to that evening, he picks it up and drives it home. The check engine light comes on and the truck dies as he pulls into the driveway. You probably know where this is going, and sure enough I go over and the engine is bone. loving. dry. No oil. They did not refill it. Oil plug is in place and there is no signs of leaking. He calls Ford's corporate number, and they sent out a tow truck today to get it and take it back to the dealership. My dad is too laid back, and I'm worried they are just going to refill it and tell him it is ok without really checking it out. Truely, terrible car stuff.

If you let that happen you're not doing your job as a son, I'd go in to the dealership with him to make sure he does not take it back if for some miracle they get the engine to run which probably won't happen. They need to offer him a new truck or at the very least put a brand new motor in it.

With a major failure like that, I wouldn't hesitate to keep Ford corporate involved as well, and make sure that they (the dealer, I mean,) don't try to pull something over on you, like limiting the power train warranty to something lower than the rest of the new-vehicle warranty, due to the engine change, or something. Dealers are scum, treat them as such.

Much like the Ion is related to the Cobalt and G5. .... it was actually Saturn's best selling vehicle at one point. The V6 Vue actually used a Honda drivetrain at one point though (and only the Vue version did this).

I had a '13 Captiva as a company car when I worked for HP. Nthing all of the reports of it being terrible, right before I was issued a new vehicle it suffered a manufacturing defect where the oil rings disintegrated and it developed a 1 quart per 500 mile habit of blowing through motor oil. Took it to a dealer, they had it for two weeks replacing the block and pistons under a recall. My manager ripped me a new rear end in a top hat on grounds that I must have done something to cause the damage, apparently not being able to comprehend what a manufacturing defect resulting in the automaker initiating a recall is.

Also this is one of many reasons why I wasn't particularly broken up when they eliminated my position and laid me off. Ether Frenzy posted:Plot Twist: That manager was Fixed. Actually the reason they eliminated my position is because under her leadership HP is splitting off its printers and personal systems arm into a separate company so the layoff axe is back out in full force.
