I'd also had a run of crummy luck and wasn't about to miss my chance to take a shot at the guy. At the time it was the best idea I'd ever had.

In 13th age, favored enemy is a choice at character creation, along with choices about pets, ranged/melee spec, choosing spells, do nature stunts, ect. I'm not a big fan of the 13a Ranger or druid, tbh, but then again I really only ever want to play as a CHAOS MAGE

In my sessions of Dungeons and Dragons in recent times, my first action in combat was telefragging the enemies. Every enemy since has been able to teleport specifically to get around this. I don't regret my actions.
