Comet Lucifer episode 2 went from moe antics to a bunch of dudes getting bloodily shanked in less than 0.6 seconds. It seems like the main cast and everyone else are in two different shows but it's interesting enough to keep watching. Also the main robot actually being 'alive' isn't something that's done very often. I hope someone explains what the deal is with the world at large sometime soon though.

I've been wondering about this recently, what other anime are there where the giant robot has a personality and is part of the cast? I couldn't really find anything like that other than maybe Donyatsu, but I was thinking more along the lines of a typical mecha show with pilots and such.

I'm enjoying Comet Lucifer so far. The story summary didn't seem all that interesting at first but I'm glad I gave this a try.
The bits with Felia climbing all over the furniture and Kaon being like a mom/big sis to her were cute :3:

Most of the Brave shows have robots with personalities, since they were made to capitalize on Transformers' success in Japan. If you want to check them out GaoGaiGar is generally considered the best one, and also the only one that's legally available outside Japan.

Gaogaigar and (I think?) Da Garn have sentient robots that join or are part of the cast.

The first one I can think of is Hiei's dragon arm thing from Yu Yu Hakusho.

Speaking of, supposedly this info comes from the Vita game

quote:

These girls don't just turn into weapons, they turn into monsters if not properly restrained by a liberator. The liberator serves as a host, who is also an infected herself.

Without proper treatment, infected women would kill their male partner during sex and or upon losing their sanity.

By fighting with each other, they reduce their stress and maintain their sanity, at a cost. They grow stronger and less humane, although sapience and what is considered to be a human is still there.

While a Liberator is as good as the training she receives, while physically enhanced it is the extasis or weapon she wields that makes her what she is. If certain conditions are met, the liberator and extasis can "merge" into a symbiote or a F-Class Threat.

What the gently caress :psyduck:

Well, those are just rumors so far. And quite frankly, I don't think any of the couples shown in the first episode can be called straight. Specially Mirei and Mamori.

in irish mythology there was a dude named Nuadhu. He led a supernatural army called the Tuatha Dé Danann. He lost his arm in battle and lost his kingship, because there was a rule that the king must be perfect in every way, so he got himself a magical silver arm.

I'm sure there's tons of other examples, but that's the one that came to mind.

For real though, I'm 90% sure it mostly comes from Hie in YYH. He had both the "unbearable pain" and "Shadow Flame" things going on, it's a perfect fit and I honestly can't think of anything older that Hie was ripping off, at least not in anime world.

The real irony though is I don't remember Hie ever winning a real fight with that thing after he had it. The perfect ultimate attack for Chuuni's.

I couldn't tell you which anime popularized it, but using paper charms to seal away evil is an old idea found in various branches of Eastern mysticism, so it's likely (in part) the evolution of that concept.

You know usually when a thread here gets gassed it makes sense, because the show was going to be toeing the line in the best of cases. How the hell did goons screw this one up?

It was really just redundant. Everyone was/is already posting about the anime in the other thread.
