The RNC throwing their weight behind Cruz is a...highly unlikely notion. Cruz is a US Senator, to be sure, but he's basically been engaged in the political equivalent of pissing on the floor of Mitch McConnell's office since the day he was sworn in. He's the guy that almost singlehandedly ginned up a government shutdown and when the Republicans inevitably humiliatingly caved, took all the credit for himself and blamed them for their cowardice. Ted Cruz is someone who doesn't give a poo poo about anything or anyone other than advancing Ted Cruz up the greasy pole, and the other Republicans know he doesn't give a drat about them and resent him.

The story of a man dragged unwillingly into the family business until it consumed him, who couldn't escape the shadow of his father. His older brother was the heir to his family legacy while his other brother is a perennial fuckup. It's an only-in-America story of powerful families involved in shady dealings and political power-brokering. And now he's referencing the Godfather movies.

President Carson would be a race between his tax policies legit bankrupting us and his empty suit approach to foreign policy ending up with someone like Cheney/Rumsfeld starting World War loving Three while we still have enough funbux to do so. I'm not sure where my predictit money would go but it definitely wouldn't go to "and the gays survive this one"

I'd rather have Trump/Trump Bodydouble 2016 and his cabinet all filled with his buddies or whatever he thought would be funny before any ticket with an evangelical. Even the more viable ones this cycle literally just got done speaking at a "KILL THE GAYS" convention that Carson would've probably been at too if he hadn't been in a warehouse shilling his books

Hej min vän, hur står det till?
I don't think it's going to be just one thing that sinks Carson, it'll be the steady deflation of his image and self-authored narrative losing credibility as more parts of his autobiography get dragged into the sunlight.

The media narrative will probably start solidifying around either his insane beliefs, or his pathological lying. This latter aspect was most likely started when he lied so obviously about his Mannatec bullshit. The first real chink in his armor is that his image is made up of "outsider" "inspirational story" "christian" & "honest", remove the honesty and he's just Cruz but droopier.

Couple of fun articles in WaPo

Why Carson is so intent on holding onto his murder attempt origin story

quote:

First, CNN published a story questioning the veracity of claims Carson has made about his life for decades. Carson has repeatedly described himself as a generally good but occasionally violently angry teen who came dangerously close to hurting people about whom he cared very much. What changed Carson? What made him the remarkably soft-spoken surgeon-turned-novice-politician — and, in some polls, the leading Republican contender for the White House — that we know today? To hear Carson tell it, it comes down to a few things:

A long, solitary session in a bathroom where he really connected with Jesus.

An early decision to dedicate no time to thinking about how the country has failed or mistreated black people for centuries.

Very, very hard work.[

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news..._politics_pop_b

quote:

The list of GOP politicians and operatives willing to take open shots at Cruz has grown long: Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, former House speaker John A. Boehner (Ohio), Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.), fellow Texas Sen. John Cornyn, Sen. John Thune (S.D.), former senator Tom Coburn (Okla.) — and on and on.

Cruz does not appear to be bothered. The senator and presidential candidate seems to relish the fact that so many fellow Republicans love to hate him. On the trail, the Texas Republican fondly recounts his skirmishes. His campaign blasts out fundraising e-mails quoting the critical words. When Boehner called Cruz a jackass, his campaign’s solicitation quoted him as saying, “I will wear it as a badge of honor because I refuse to join their club.” A super PAC supporting Cruz released a radio spot Tuesday boasting that Boehner referred to Cruz as a “a pain in the you-know-what.”

In other words, Cruz’s status as persona non grata has become part of his political persona: He uses the enmity of others to paint himself as an outsider, someone whose role taking on Washington prompted an ugly backlash from the establishment that he counts as a point of pride.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli..._politics_pop_b

The above is also why Cruz is destined to flame out as well.

I don't watch TV so I can't comment on the TV ads, but I live just across the boarder, and I got pro-Bevin ads, that literally just talked about his Lieutenant Governor, Jenean Hampton. Then they would end with "she needs your help to fight the Obama agenda, so vote for Matt Bevin on November 4th!" Followed of course by the whole paid for by some organization that uses "Freedom" or "Growth" in it's name.
