Confession time: I don't actually care that much about FE: Fates. I never use my DS (I still have the old one) and I think their decision to split the game into two based on the MC's gender is real dumb.

That's actually about a hundred yards from the two Starbucks across the street from each other from the Lewis Black comedy routine.

There's three Starbucks there now. There's a Barnes and Noble with a a Starbucks in it right behind one of the original Starbucks.

it was a two-sided cover, and I definitely remember seeing the femshep cover on store shelves so either they just kind of went 'some boxes will have femshep cover as the frontside, some will have dudeshep' or there were some really weird employees at that gamestop.

No, they're two separate, competing companies. They're often in the same place for the same reason you'll often see two fast food restaurants next two each other; they both used their computers and science to determine that that would be a profitable location to open a store.

That was the dumbest thing. It's all connected to the internet, every player was sending data back to the EA Cloud or whatever. Why not just take the average of all the character creation choices of all the players?

Yeah, in the first couple epsiodes there's some really amazing stuff for a TV anime of that era.

Then they ran out of money and we got knife_fight.gif

considering i always got the impression femshep was more popular, i'm glad they had box options. only ever saw the dudeshep one though.
was the marketing for the games mostly split, or did they pretty much use dudeshep until the box thing though? because i kinda assume the latter

I don't think that would be the average of player created characters. That looks like a glitch.

I honestly thought the games were separated by gender. If they're two different plotlines that makes more sense but I'm still not that interested in it for the other reason.

Though I now have a positive enough cashflow that I could probably spring for one of the new 3DSes so that might change!!! I have so many good games for the DS, I can't really tell you why I don't use it very often.

Macross has some pretty heavy quality, but when it doesn't, the animation can be beautiful. Like this, which isn't too long before everybody's favourite knife fight.

I think the femshep cover was supposed to acknowledge that very vocal fan base, as well as promote the "diversity" of the game. I'm sure a lot of people didn't even know about or consider femshep when starting a game

One of these days we're going to have a game with a create-a-character that takes the female default as the "default"/box art option, and that'll be nice to see.

The game's not split, they made two complete games with different design philosophies. Birthright is designed similarly to Awakening, while Conquest has more complex and challenging maps and objectives.
