The eyes. Why so many eyes :gonk:

It's terrifying and beautiful put together like that.

They also make sense if you're trying to convey a sense of touch on skin, where a robot might have proximity sensors or something instead.

Maybe robot interprets the arm as an alien presence, wholly outside his spectrum of input or imagination. It has eyes and the features of an Eldritch horror, I think robot is afraid.

If it fit seamlessly, it would get cut off by the binding in the book.

Gotta love how that row of orange perforate triangles along the middle looks like he's screaming "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA".

Is this the first time Tom has made a comic that's really designed for two pages in the book? It's a nice touch.

Don't doodle on it!

I'm a little disappointed that this wasn't a single double-wide page, like most other webcomics do. I feel like the impact of it is lessened if you don't see them side-by-side; plus, it's a little hiccup in the momentum.

It may just be me, but I found the eyes to be more squicky than the previous page. So the impact hasn't been lost.

Completely disagree. The spread is designed to get increasingly horrifying at the page break, and it creates an amazing double whammy.

I didn't see any ears or ear-like bits on Robot's sensory tsunami. Which is odd, because this spread suggests that his arm knows this song that you totally need to listen to, maaaan...

Robot tensing every muscle at once reminded me of Ysengrin's wooden body. So I guess he might turn into the Court's Ysengrin? That would be sorta neat.
