E8 would be a tough thing to expose newbies to. I think you're right to limit it to 3 eps or so. Leave the full experience for Advanced Haruhiism.

Or marathon it in one sitting while everyone gets hella smashed.

Also, congrats to Mio's voice actress on her marriage.

While we're discussing kyoani voice actresses, has anyone ever been able to figure out why some of them (Other than Aya Hirano, since her story is well known) just flat-out disappear after appearing in one of their shows? Yuuko Gotou (Mikuru in Haruhi) has pretty much only appeared in porn (Queen's Blade + some H game adaptations) since Haruhi, and the similarly the careers seem to have ended of every VA who played a major role in Nichijou.

Then there's people like Hikasa Yoko, Ai Kayano, and Maaya Uchida who have had storied careers after their initial kyoani debuts.

Does KyoAni have a really tempestuous and vindictive voice director? Do they record in a different way than most studios, which taints their fresh young recruits? I can't be the only person to have noticed this.

I don't keep track of voice actors really but I know that Yuuko Goto had some health problems, which might have limited the number of projects she could take on. She did voice Hiro in four seasons of Hidamari Sketch though.

I'm not sure it means anything other than maybe Kyoani is willing to put relative unknowns in major roles, and sometimes nobody else picks them up afterwards.

I just got done watching through Remote Island Syndrome 2 with a pair of Haruhi newbies. Both express an interest in watching more, we'll see if it happens. One is my best friend, who has watched a good amount of anime, but mostly stuff that I've shown him, and the other is a friend who has watched a decent amount but doesn't really know much about it, e.g. he watched and loved Beyond the Boundary and Free but didn't realize that they were by the same studio. I look forward to E8, though I'm going to give them the opportunity to watch 3-4 eps total, and even more to Disappearance.

I always give my friends the full Haruhi experience. I pace them through the seasons, but ALWAYS make sure they watch E8 over the span of a few consecutive days. They always hate me during it and love it coming out the other side. Then they come to realize the truth of Disappearance being one of, if not the, best animated movies.

It feels good to take someone who has seen very little anime, expose them to Haruhi, and watch the transformation take place. It's a beautiful sight.

Truly the best part of KyoAni is that they produce their required works. It inspires love in their viewers.

So there is some overlap with another thread on this, but is Amagi Brilliant Park something I can watch at the gym without facing embarrassment? It looks kind of fan servicey.

(Ignore considerations of whether I should watch ABP in the first place)

It has more fan service than most of their shows (one common group of 4 characters is always shown in bikinis) and it is the only KyoAni show that I know of to feature nudity (in the first or second episode iirc)

They had fanservice in Full Metal Panic too, which happens to be by the same creator. :ssh:

Alright but that was 13 years ago and since then not even remotely the norm. I don't think it's a stretch to say AMP is their horniest show in a long time

Don't watch the third, thirteenth, or fourteenth episode at the gym.

Also consider not watching episodes 1 through 14 period. Even though I know that's not what you were asking.

Amagi Brilliant Park is fun but it's definitely more fanservicey than any of their other shows so yeah, I don't think it'd be an especially good pick for that.

Thanks, you and everyone else. That's exactly what I'm looking for.

I got some laughs out of the first episode so I'll probably just watch the whole thing unless it goes completely bonkers. But those elemental fairies are not promising.
