Opie probably wants to replace Jimmy with Sam in October so he's trying that out. Also, it sounds like Opie and Ron are not on the best terms since Opie banned ESD from the building and Ron still support him and thinks banning him was a dumb decision. Opie probably also deep down hates Ron for going on Anthony's show and having Luis and Esther on his show.
