Just want to say that Reddit legit just had one of its biggest breakdowns recently for the CEO banning a subreddit about taking fat people's facebook pictures and posting them their to be made fun of (along with other prejudiced and racist subreddits). When the subreddit was banned (had 200,000 redditors subscribed, if I recall correctly), people just started creating new hate subreddits and posting pictures of the CEO on it (of course, calling her a slut, amongst other words), along with doxxing random staff members of imgur, simply for supporting the Reddit CEO's decision. The reason I say all of that is because I'm loving grinning at them calling the squadron 42 subreddit a "hate group".

When? questions of Star Citizen. But there is no making sense of the How? and especially Why? questions without discussing the personality traits of leadership. There can't be. It's important to realize their success so far is due to trust and confidence in these key players - both as professionals and as human beings. without that there would be no CIG. The funny thing is that confidence is based on a fantasy (save PC gaming! Fidelity! Immersion! CR's golden hands!), and CIG must maintain that fantasy to raise more funds. this puts them in a position where honest talk and critical thinking are an existential threat; the only way to keep the trust they have is to go all in on the lie and bluff their way through e; and also don't use Chris' first take where his lack of respect for the rubes pops out of his mouth Solarin fucked around with this message at 08:34 on Feb 1, 2016 |

Just want to say that the actual concept of Karma works over lifetimes, which is why sometimes good things happen to bad people and vice-versa. So when lovely things happen to lovely people, you gotta remember that they were also lovely in their past lives. And because they're still lovely, their future lives are gonna be lovely too.

There must be lights shining brighter, somewhere got to be birds, flying higher, in a sky more blue If I can dream, of a better land, where all my brothers walk hand in hand tell me why, oh why, oh why can't my dream come true (oh why?) There must be peace and understanding sometime strong winds of promise that will blow away all the doubt and fear if I can dream of a warmer sun, where hope keeps shining on everyone tell me why, oh why, oh why won't that sun appear? We're lost in a cloud, with too much rain we're trapped in a world that's troubled with pain but as long as a man has the strength to dream he can redeem his soul and fly (he can flyyy) deep in my heart, lies a trembling question still I am sure, that the answer, answer's gonna come some how out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle oh yeah and while I can think while I can walk while I can stand while I can talk while I can dream, please let my dream, come true ohhh-ohhh RIGHT NOWW! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CMlYVu9J4g Brazilianpeanutwar fucked around with this message at 08:43 on Feb 1, 2016 |

I'm a massive fan of XCOM, for instance, but...even that, not to the point where I'd willingly give up over 1,000 dollars' worth of cash for essentially nothing. The trouble tends to start, when you devote so much time/attention to a thing, that you feel like you need it. If XCOM vanished from the Earth tommorow, I'd be real upset and sad, but it wouldn't be like I couldn't go on with my life and poo poo. When this will happen to the true shitizens, though, yeah...some of them will legit an hero and too many have already gotten divorced over it. While the survivors will, sadly, all too likely do as you said, move on to the next crusade. I'm sure someone versed in psychology/psychiatry could find the technical word for it, tho.

Welcome to another Star Citizen PTU Journal for the latest PTU patch 2.1.1, it isn’t just a hotfix & improvement patch, it actually has some awesome change, the major one being the Baby PU has Increased it’s Player Cap from 16 to 24 – But can only Spawn in 16 Ships this encourages multi-crewed ships as there are 24 players but only 16 ships. That’s a 50% increase and it seems stable! The next day it was back to 16. lol

2.7 million in January, sale light month, they only sold the alien scout and said the packages were cheaper now than they would be as SQ42 and Star Citizen are due to be split. Derek has ruined the fun of watching the figures a bit now as I'm not sure how reliable they are. I think 2+months after the release of 2.0 it has become obvious that even if CIG wanted to fix Star Citizen, they don't currently have enough talented staff to do so, the patches are barely even hot-fixes which indicates very few people are actively working on it. Solarin posted:My theory: Belonging is a hell of a drug. Some find it in online games. People really do need it and will fight to keep it from vanishing. This is the one and only time I'll play armchair psychoanalyst re: Star Citizen and Pathfinder Online and the like. Someone in the PFO thread summed it up rather perfectly I think when they said that it's not games so much that these folks are craving but some kind of virtual reality. That's why you get people wanting to mix drinks and tend stables and be innkeepers and hide in boxes and spinning these wild, entirely fabricated daydreams about life in the 'verse and poo poo, because what they're actually hoping they're funding is some sort of proto-holodeck where they can plug in their VR headset and immersive flight joysticks and be transported to another world entirely. I'm not suggesting that literally every person who backs something like this is trying to escape their lives or something, I'm sure far more people backed Star Citizen simply because they thought (for some reason) that Chris Roberts would give them a cool new game to play, but by and large those folks are probably the silent majority that don't post stuff like the Stimpire or suggest that there should be space airliners with space stewardesses and a drink mixing minigame. Like, it's been brought up here multiple times over the last 5,000 or so posts (and gently caress off if you think I'm going back and looking for who said it when) that the sort of person who wants drink mixing minigames and space news vans and poo poo isn't the sort of person who's seriously played video games in the last 20 years or so, and yeah, that's probably right. Because they aren't actually after a video game, and their bizarre requests for ridiculous content and strange essays about a fictional video game that exists only within their heads is pretty strong evidence of that. They want Chris Roberts to be the one to finally deliver this fully immersive, seamless fantasy they've concocted. I don't know why they think he can do it when as far as I can tell his list of accomplishments begins and ends at "made Wing Commander," but he's speaking their language when he agrees that there's going to be seamless orbit-to-surface landings and procedurally generated flora and fauna and so they'll happily keep throwing money at him in the hopes that this project achieves some kind of critical mass, or hell, maybe just to keep the dream going at this point.

I met up with my little brother the other day and managed to talk at him about Star Citizen for a good half hour, as he had never heard of it to this point. He thinks Derek Smart sounds like a dickhead though (I think Derek's preferred term is "internet warlord"). It persuaded him to actually download Elite Dangerous and give it a try and he's apparently enjoying it quite a bit
