I recall there being like one recap episode. Maybe two. But that's early on, and then it's just good anime from there.

Unless you count the movies, which are bad filler episodes that should never be watched.

Nice, I'm digging this show. They're fighting in the tower now and zushi just tried to go murder face on killua.

There are like two recap episodes that you can skip. They're not included in the blu-rays.

Don't get it twisted who your enemies are.
Those recap episodes make me think the HxH2011 team at Madhouse kept assuming the show would be ended at the close of the season but when they got told to keep going they were like "OH poo poo" and had to scramble to put together an episode.

Solving mysteries in
Bb, F and D.
Also worth noting if you haven't discovered it already, there's post-credit bits of world-building in some of the arcs, so it's not always to your benefit to immediately skip to the next episode. Occasionally jump to 30 seconds before the end or so to see if it's just a preview or if they're discussing something fun.

Thanks for the heads up. I I love how gon and killua don't really care about the top prize at the tower and just want to fight. This show does great things with classic tropes.

I just watched episode 111 of the 2011 remake. The entire episode was 20 minutes of why it is a really bad idea to get punched by Netero. Best episode of any show I've ever watched.

I know it's mainly for the sake of the viewer but I like to imagine Netero's attack was literally so powerful that it instantly communicated his entire life story to Meruem upon impact.

I remember being really confused in the Netero vs Pitou scene cause it initially made me think that Zeno was sitting down to have a meal and telling Pitou about Netero all within the less-than-a-split-second it took for Netero to knock Pitou far away.

I was like, how is Zeno even there? How is he eating so quickly? Where did the food come from?

This show is so much fun to watch. They just left to reach the auction. I haven't had this much fun watching a show in a while.

Is yuyu Hakusho available anywhere online? I never saw it (only poltergeist report) but if it's half as good as this I think I'd like to.

I thought HxH was much better than YYH. Mostly since the Dark Tournament lasted too drat long and also I forgot what happened after that event.

Don't get it twisted who your enemies are.
YYH was a Very Good Standard Shounen™ that ran out of steam by the end. I think by the conclusion of the Dark Tournament, Togashi probably wanted to move on and do something more creative, hence the Sensui arc with the cool psychic powers. Definitely worth watching, though. I've actually been considering a rewatch lately myself.

I never knew what happened after the dark tournament for a long time because Toonami took forever to actually get new episodes.

The Chapter Black arc is probably the best arc overall. I just take issue with the ending and how long and stupid that fight with Sensui was in the cave. Everything up to that is just fantastic, with my personal favorite moments being the conclusion of the Game Master showdown and Kuwabaras lament as he tries to reach into his dormant power.

I've said it before though, the Three Kings saga is my favorite. I love the demon rulers and their ideologies ( Mukuro is just fantastic) and it has some of the series best moments like learning about Hiei's past, seeing Kurama in his element as he takes control of Yomi's council and Yusuke's introspection about what he 's capable of doing with all his power at the start of the arc and at the end when he finds the answer ( in the anime at least).

If you stopped at the end of the Dark Tournament, you really missed out on some of the best moments in the show and I personally find it fascinating to see the early elements of the intricate Nen system we would end up seeing in HxH with the psychic characters introduction.

I wasn't really fond of the Sensui arc on my read, but it's been a while now and I wonder if my perspective on the series will have changed.

And yeah, Three Kings arc is probably my favorite too.

Dont judge me, I design your manhole
Definitely thought the Dark Tournament arc was the best, cause it had things like Genkai beating up a clown. Some of the fights are pointless (and by most I mean the evil doctor one) but there was a bunch of great stuff happening in that arc. Sensui started off strong but lost its steam once Kuwabara got kidnapped and was cursed with never being useful ever again, and the climax (demon Yuzuke/split personalities) was the most obvious case of jumping the shark I can think of.

The scene where Welfin was racking his brain to think up 'one word' for the King was probably one of my favorite anime moments ever as well.

Glad I'm not the only one who missed out due to Toonami's uselessness :argh:

Although his art got much better in HxH than YYH but the anime is still pretty great unlike the former old version.

Whether it's conjuration, manipulation, or emission is... nen of your business.

Just how many mistakes have you suffered on the way here?

An uncountable number, to be sure.
Speaking of nen in italics, does anyone else find it hilarious that Crunchyroll's choice to distinguish the real nen from the fake nen Wing mentioned first was to put the real one in italics... and then continue to use italics for 100+ more episodes despite the fake nen never being mentioned again? I chuckled every single time they used one of those words in italics, which was constantly.

Not quite sure why you are all acting so weird, the chains are conjured. It's kind of a major plot point.

One of two reasons, I think. Either one, because we had a big discussion about this at some other point in the thread, or two, because people figure King's asking while being at the point in the series after the chains are revealed but before we learn that, yes, they're conjured, and is unwittingly asking about a big spoiler. One of the two.

It's probably because this thread has had big arguments about the relative merits of the different Nen types.

Personally, I'd say Specialization>Enhancement>Transmutation>Manipulation>Conjuration>Emission

Nah it's because there's this one guy that doesn't understand how Nen works at all and kept coming back to tell people how literally every ability that was summoned at all is Conjuration, despite the series stating or showing otherwise and wouldn't drop it.
