That Sanders accomplished enough to inject the idea of a real progressive into the heads of the right demographic makes me happy. He also said that until Clinton gets to the required delegate count he will assume a contested convention(and so will I, with all the hope I can muster).

I understand the decorum and how he's trying to get them to play ball a little more with the "democrat from now on" thing, but I wish he would just say she was the nominee and he'll accept that without endorsing her.

Alright. What's the process for getting on the ballot? What are the exact boundaries of the council seat your home falls into? Who holds that seat now- what party are they, are they old, young, what have they been in the news for? How can you campaign against them effectively? What kind of budget do you have for advertising, and how are you going to raise that money? What are you going to spend the money on? Are there any debates for a city council slot?

This poo poo's hard work. 2017 might be too soon. Start running and getting things in order now.

ya i know in RI for example there's a buttload of stuff you have to do and a buttload of deadlines to remember in order to run for stuff

i downloaded the PDF of all the rules just in case but looking at it is just like 0_o

it's actually not that tough in RI. you just need a campaign treasurer (who can be a volunteer that isn't an idiot), a campaign bank account, and you have to file a statement of organization and statement of candidacy with the board of canvassers. these are very short documents. then you need a trivial number of signatures to get on the ballot, usually small enough that you can get them in an afternoon just standing in front of a whole foods with a clipboard. if todd giroux can do it, anyone can.

Yeah, I'm gonna say 2017 is too soon. I'll need to beef up my community resume and get better established first.

i guess they just make it look daunting by having like a freaking novella-length PDF about it :v:

Well, why would people want to listen to a crank that picks lowers? Won't people eventually start recognizing you as the volunteer campaigner of losing campaigns?
