orcinus posted:What. I THINK, in their twisted world, what they're trying to say is. When you 'pledge' originally, it is a 'deposit' towards making the game. If you don't bail out and get a refund soon after (read: within a matter of day's I'm sure) they consider the pledge or deposit to be 'earned' by the hard working multinational corporation that is CIG, and such the funds are already earmarked for development (read: another 5k couch for :ben: to sit his fat rear end on) But that being true they should have a monthly accounting to show where all the pledges are going, and here we stand. Most open development in the world ever since it was a little girl

Anyone know the quote about why CIG moved to SoCal? Wasn't it around being centrally located to their marketing efforts? If so laffo that a year later they are bailing on E3.

Their legalese is cute when you consider how many of their own writings on their site talks about "sales" and "buy" and "purchase" and the fact they charge taxes on "pledges" "We won't talk about the NEXT patch because we haven't even begun to think about it " Also patches aren't the same thing as updates ashfdjhfasdhfdjkflasf Justin Tyme fucked around with this message at 23:45 on Jun 1, 2016 |

"networking issues relating to persistence" Is there any way to interpret this other than CIG is having issues figuring out how to save the status of things on their servers?

Because I am so sick of hearing that "You know nothing about games development!" canard, here is a chart that I highly recommend everyone download and distribute as needed to shut people up when they act like 4.5 years of pre-alpha development is just just par for the course. IT ISN'T. And there are a lot of titles that started later and will deliver sooner that offer a LOT more features and content that we've seen to date. Each title above is a direct competitive threat with Star Citizen or Squadron 42. All will be released before Star Citizen is finished. The titles above will each generate hundreds of millions of dollars on their first day of release. Star Citizen, on the other hand, has already generated and spent a great deal of its first day revenue because nearly all revenues generated to date have been pre-orders for games or for spaceship DLC. Also- in case any of you lurkers haven't figured it out yet, SQUADRON 42 IS NOT COMING OUT THIS YEAR. OR EARLY 2017. If it was, CIG would have stuff to show at E3. It should bother you that Derek Smart is telling you things before CIG does. Do you really believe that's what "Open Development" should feel like? stinch posted:Amazing, most individuals working on hobby projects for free would give a more professional response than that. Yeah but the customers that buy his companies product are loving stupid and literally beg to be treated badly, paying more than they can afford for the privledge in some cases. So why would he need to be professional? He could pretty much go "Look jerks, we are loving working hard on this poo poo. We don't owe you anything. You'll be lucky if we even loving make anything. Shut the gently caress up" and there would probably be applause and a surge of funding. This post will probably be quoted in some Pro-CIG capacity with people going " I'd love it if Ben talked like that to the weak masses "

You just know the response to that chart will be "But none of those games have the SCOPE or FIDELITY of our game." "Nothing like this has ever been tried before, unlike those cookie-cutter AAA re-hashes." "You just don't understand game development!" and you will lose a little more hair.
