There were so many threads to follow after the resolution of RE6, but I think what is most disinteresting is that none of the old cast seems present, or any old character for that matter. Certainly we'll find out as Capcom spoils the entire game up to release in every convention they attend (like with RE6) about the characters but if this is an all new cast then, well, I dunno what to say then. RE is not a 'cabin in the woods' game.

Supposedly it's up or going to be up after the conference on PS Store for anyone with a PSN subscription.

Well there goes any interest I had in it.

Yeah, same here. I'll try the demo out but those first person walking games where your view is limited to the light of a flashlight (which isn't even how a flashlight works) don't interest me in the slightest. If this is the direction of the series from this point forward, I guess it's not for me any more.

Looking forward to seeing the 2 remake, though.

The link posted on the last page mentions its a "sprawling mansion" or estate, sprawling was used. But the footage makes it look like a little poo poo shack. If there is no attachment to the existing story then I will likely forego the inevitable nightmares and, yes, heart attacks involved if the entire game plays out the way the trailer suggests.

Pending reaction to the demo I'm gonna have to go to my brothers' tomorrow and try it out.

And the best thing is, I can try the demo out too since I own a PS4 now and wowee.

I legitimately was debating if they had gotten the Silent Hill license from Konami at steep discount.

So, Harvey, what became of the giant penny?

They actually let him keep it.
I'll be the first guy who says that trailer got me pretty hyped. RE4 formula is pretty stale by now, and it's impossible to go back to tank controls for a AAA game in 2017. This might actually be a good direction for the series. I do want to see more gameplay than spooky walking, though.

I hate to say it but with how convoluted RE has become, I wouldn't mind if they threw it all out and started over. Maybe there's people out there that still care about where the plot is going but I'm no longer one of them.

Way back with RE3 I was interested where the whole war with Umbrella thing, I was expecting something ridiculous, big sprawling complex, stupid puzzles, having to fight multiple tyrants and nemesis.

Instead we got Leon's escort quest adventures in not Spain. :geno:

Not even Capcom cared about where the plot was going since they changed characters every game. The only time we got two in a row was 5 and 6 and they allegedly added him in for Call of Duty fans.

I'm gonna say the trailer for RE7 actually looked pretty good. Not sure about the first person stuff but I can not really care less if we don't see the RE6 style of gameplay again.

RE6 had a great combat system marred by a lovely campaign.

So obviously the correct thing to do is to throw it all out and do something completely different.

This reminds me of DMC.

Huh. Last year at E3, I played this super-grimy, short horror demo on PlayStation VR called something like "The Kitchen," and noticed after it was over that it was directed by Jun Takeuchi, who produced RE5. There was no real gameplay, so it didn't stick with me as hard as a couple of other of the demos did, but the guy in the suit in the RE7 trailer looks a lot like a guy in that demo and the general aesthetic's the same.

I find it hard to believe that Capcom would pull a full-blown Season of the Witch in the main series, so I'm guessing it'll turn out to have some tangential connection, since the Capcom Unity post specifically says it's set after RE6. That lingering shot on the old dude in the wheelchair makes me think of Ozwell Spencer.

Didn't look or feel like Resident Evil at all. And I'm not just talking about the new ones. The whole time I was like "so, it's Silent Hill?" Which isn't Resident Evil, to me.

Didn't get me remotely excited.

It wouldn't surprise me if a reason why they finally greenlit the remake of RE2 now was so they could use it to fend off the imminent "not my RE" complaints about RE7.

I'd forgive everything if Chris would just haymaker through the wall and choppers full of BSAA mooks rappelled in and napalmed the place.

This game is like Mirror's Edge: Survival Edition with the way the character feels up everything.

Is he really walking around doing other things during a flashback?

Hey I know this is crazy but maybe the teaser is not actually the entire game?

Maybe you leave the house (or the person you play as in the teaser isn't even the character you play as in the main game) and it changes to be more like Resident Evil. Maybe I'm just an optimist but I don't think even Capcom would just lazily throw on the main Resident Evil franchise name to a game that had nothing to do with Resident Evil.

The parasite outbreak at the Quarantine Platform made for a great level in Phantom Pain.

Kojima could probably do a small side-campaign with some BSAA mook as the viewpoint.

I'm not a big fan of "explore rundown creepy mansion/house/castle/whatever" but it'd be cool if a good chunk of the game is exploring an umbrella lab gone to poo poo because scifi horror is cool and good like alien isolation

He finally figured out how to open the drawer.

By finding a lockpick under some furniture and opening it in a flashback. The drawer was empty in his movie tape past, but when he wakes up someone put an axe there.

By movie tape past I mean watching a video tape the character, a cameraman, must have been taking.

Someone posted the good ending that the streamer is trying for

quote:

Wake up, grab fuse, crawl through hole, grab key, check drawer, grab finger, walk down hall, boltcutter, cabinet, VHS, go down hole, turn around, walk backwards towards andre, skip death scene, pick up shotgun, punched in face by hillbilly, walk upstairs, phone rings, walk out, downstairs, back to hole, jump down, shoot hillbilly, good ending.

considering this is apparently based off 'the kitchen' vr demo made about 2 years ago or so, they already did

the demo gives me generic lovely indie horror game looking for random garbage vibes pretty hard but hey, maybe it'll turn out good or something

on the other hand this exciting gameplay and tone sure looks like they saw people's reactions to PT and decided to do a game like that in the same vein they saw call of duty sales and went "yo lets make re6 like THAT"

I'm not opposed to them trying something different, but I remember reading news that they were going to have the Alice character from the movies be a playable character in RE7's mercenaries mode. This does not look like the kind of game to have a mercenaries mode!

Also, bit of speculation based on the Rev 2 ending: Could the "She's back" at the beginning of the RE7 trailer refer to Alex Wesker, finally being reborn through Natalia?

Wanderer

It's too early to speculate. Alex is certainly the most obvious candidate for the "she" in "she's back," but at this point, we know next to nothing.

It could just as easily be Lisa Trevor.
