A Black Mark For Retarded Posting
The EU will never negotiate with anyone who isn't the leader of the government or the finance minister right? Which of two things we as a country sort of don't have right now. So any negotiation will never happen prior to a new PM and article 50 being invoked, right?

i don't want brexit, i voted remain, but the fact is that people in totally poo poo situations were given the protest vote to end all protest votes and poo poo they turned out for it. maybe lying to the electorate for years and letting them live in poo poo conditions isn't a good idea

It doesn't bother me because I consider referenda in the UK to be a flawed method of democracy that we should never use. They're an abhorration in a country with parliamentary democracy.

Whatever happens isn't going to be a true 'brexit', it'll be a compromise. I just want that compromise to be shifted closer to what we have now.

Voters are loving stupid. That's why representative republics are way better than direct democracies. Britain needs someone with the balls to say "This is stupid and we're not going to do it."

How the gently caress has Gove got away with this unscathed?

I think it's due to two reasons - firstly that his was not the deciding voice in winning the vote and secondly that he is a 'principled' Brexiteer. Boris was basically pretending to be a Brexiter for larks, bants and personal gain, while also being sufficiently personally popular to swing the electorate, so I think it's natural he gets a greater share of the censure.

One crucial skill of a leader is to be able to command respect of his peers and constituents (in this sense the PLP), and this is even more critical in the cut-throat world of politics. While I think the MPs seeking to depose him are themselves acting in a horribly destructive and slimy manner (and are helped by a largely anti-Corbyn press), his inability to gain, retain, or regain their respect is in itself enough to show that he is not a credible leader.

He has no way to gain, retain, or regain their respect because he is the leader of the Labour party and they are not Labour politicians but rather people that didn't have good enough connections to get decent placing in the Tories so they created a niche of their own on Labour. This isn't about anything he did or about the man himself, it's about his politics. If Julius Caesar himself came down from heaven to lead Labour with that platform they'd still go after him.
Corbyn is anathema to them and they know it, it's a battle without quarter from either side.

That's basically the Lib Dems' game plan. I don't feel they're making enough of the Tory / Labour chaos though, or more likely the press just isn't giving them much air time as the Tory and Labour news is more interesting.

Absolutely. What's needed is a new narrative that a plurality of the electorate can buy into. You get nowhere by being lesser Tories, you need to come up with the ideas that the least bad of them will reluctantly be forced to adopt in 15 years time.

Higher wages, freer education, better health care, cheaper housing, fewer wars, easier travel. And you could fund that all 5 times over by simply taking 10% of the savings from not leaving the EU on bad terms.

Everyone who votes for the liberal democrats in any hypothetical election deserves everything they get. I don't care if they're the only loving party saying no brexit, if they might be able to overturn the referendum with the mandate they'd get (the rest of the parties splitting the brexit votes).

If I was in a voting booth and my choice was liberal democrat, ukip or tory i'd spoil my ballot.
