Said goodbye to my beagle today. Buster was a good dog, and I'm missing him horribly now. It was really hard at dinnertime tonight, when he wasn't right at my feet giving me the puppy dog eyes. Him with Joey (my former cat, he passed on about a month ago), from about three years ago. If nothing else, Buster was always super-photogenic.

Yup, that is what we have as the standard issue squirrel over here; the eurasian red squirrel, sciurus vulgaris. I dunno what's so vulgar about them though, they are quite adorable.

Nordick posted:Yup, that is what we have as the standard issue squirrel over here; the eurasian red squirrel, sciurus vulgaris. I figure you're probably joking, but to those who don't know: vulgaris literally means common. The modern word vulgar is from Latin speaking aristocrats looking down their noses at commoners.

Sadly had to put this old boy down today, advanced liver cancer out of nowhere. At least there's a service now that will come to your home and do it so you don't have to freak your pet out one last time by bringing him to the vet. He could be a dick sometimes, but he had a good heart, which is better than you can say for a lot of people. Anyway, when I'm in charge, dogs will live longer. He *loved* napkins.

Today I fell asleep on him in the afternoon. Woke up ten minutes later when his purring got too loud. Best kind of catnap.
