And suddenly republicans care about Bernie Sanders again. An angry socialist face that will constantly haunt Hilldog wherever she goes. When she's making a speech, there's Sanders eating an ice cream cone and scowling at her for not giving a better deal for the little people. When she's with her staff, she'll see Bernie flamingo dancing on the table, robbing her of sanity. In her water glass, in her hair, in the faces of everyone at the state of the union, ITS ALWAYS BERNIE.

A bandage on a gushing head wound. Is there any hope of Hillz targeting the block and going, "You know he's everything you profess to hate, and also (for your poo poo version of Christianity) likes abortions and gays." Funny given that the Israeli right wing has been breaking up Palestinian Christian communities since the days of the British mandate. http://imemc.org/article/israeli-extremists-attack-palestinian-christians-during-pentecost-prayer-shouting-you-are-evil/ the poor sods are increasingly being squeezed between a rock and a hard place.

We continue our Farewell to July, back in...![]() Since I do months per week, the last week is always on the larger size. July in particular was big, so here's part 2 of this weekend's update. ![]() A lot of conservatives had doubts about McCain, but they can't actually admit their ideas suck so roll out that time-honored tradition: blame the media. ![]() McCain did indeed whine about the media coverage, except a study showed that media coverage was more negative towards Obama at a rate of 3:1. ![]() Even better, the group behind this study had done an earlier one years ago suggesting a liberal media bias that conservatives eagerly lapped up. ![]() This doesn't even include Fox News, which at this point was #1 in news and effectively right-wing propaganda. ![]() Obama had an article published in the Times about Iraq. McCain presented a rebuttal, but the Times wanted more concrete details to mirror Obama's article better. I dunno what ultimately happened, but I imagine it was better publicity to just scream about bias. ![]() It may surprise some of you to know that Allie had Rall as a ghost artist for a few cartoons. ![]() Ultimately though, the Republicans might have been the engineers of their own demise. Their whole strategy was to attack Obama...which kept Obama in the news. ![]() Meanwhile, Obama's campaign wisely focused on Their Guy and left McCain to languish in the shadows. ![]() Obama offered some tips to keep down gas prices. A foolish candidate. ![]() See, Obama went to school and got a fancy degree, thus enabling him to see that any kind of policy change wasn't going to help people right now. What an Ivory Tower elitist! ![]() Obama didn't visit wounded vets. We may see more about this next week. ![]() The trip was cancelled because he didn't want it to be seen as a campaign stunt and make the vets part of some political thing. ![]() Edwards was found to have produced a love child with his mistress. It's especially callous since his wife had cancer and he made a big thing about that in public. I only mention this because Edwards was a candidate in the primary, albeit a distant third, and yet he decided to run knowing he had this skeleton in his closet. Had he won the primary, McCain would have probably won the presidency. It wouldn't be until like 2010 that Edwards even admitted to fathering the kid. On top of his loss in 2004 as Kerry's running mate, and his primary loss in 2008, this affair effectively killed his political career and he's back to practicing law. ![]() Just fyi, this was the main news story throughout August until Palin was announced as McCain's running mate. ![]() I turns out black women don't want to be forced to carry a pregnancy to term and have no money to raise them because people like Asay kept gutting welfare. Doing God's work indeed. ![]() ![]() NEXT: August is when the good poo poo starts, but first our Liberal Roundup for July.

Not sure what the term I'm looking for is here, but there's a major difference between what you'll hear if you're a woman walking into a Planned Parenthood clinic past a crowd of protesters, and the proper party line in the media, where abortion is just something that *happens* to women - by some implications against their will. (Assuming the woman even features in the equation, as we all know how popular the "fetus in a void" genre is). Guess "baby-killing whores" just doesn't play that well in print. Anymore.

Jay Rust posted:How is it dishonest? I'm not seeing it. Men aren't going to get abortions Yeah, exactly. He cut the black population in half, then presented it as a percentage of the total population, rather than a percentage of the female population. He's comparing them against all the men in America who don't get abortions. That cartoon is also just a really good representation of Asay's particular line of thinking: "This big abortion-having demographic is voting for... the guy who wants abortions to remain legal? Why don't they want to vote for the party that wants to ban the thing they have in common and not deal with any of the underlying issues that lead to it?? Where's the logic in that???"
