I'm a loving genius when it comes to space games. yeah definitely. travelling between planets and blasting from the ground to another orb somewhere light years away is a treat. so is flying around a densely-populated system with a bunch of planets and moons. but the whole game feels like collecting the useless treasure chests from assassin's creed black flag, except with more annoying un-fun minutiae getting in the way, less gleeful piracy and worse ship-to-ship combat.

Not saying it's not worth doing but if CIG really does do crazy stuff like hire private detectives to find leaks and being found to have leaked something would kill your career, why risk it? There are even rumours of legal action against people in this thread.

They'll be streaming in a close circuit where the lag isn't noticeable because 50 people arent playing on the server, just 14 maybe. How are they going to unfuck the netcode when they still haven't added any real variables that will absolutely wreck their infrastructure given how lovely it is already? Once character generation comes out it'll be a huge tax on performance, once real ship customization comes out it'll be even worse. Jesus christ cargo, once people start actually transporting cargo. The Pareto Law states that "the top 20 percent of buyers for most any consumer product account for fully 80 percent of sales," according to Cook. The rule can be applied to everything from hair care products to X-Boxes. In software[edit] In computer science and engineering control theory, such as for electromechanical energy converters, the Pareto principle can be applied to optimization efforts.[11] For example, Microsoft noted that by fixing the top 20% of the most-reported bugs, 80% of the related errors and crashes in a given system would be eliminated.[12] In load testing, it is common practice to estimate that 80% of the traffic occurs during 20% of the time.[citation needed] In software engineering, Lowell Arthur expressed a corollary principle: "20 percent of the code has 80 percent of the errors. Find them, fix them!"[13] Software frameworks have often been observed to make 80% of use cases easier to implement and 20% of use cases much more difficult to implement.[14] In the mobile game industry, it has been noted that for free-to-play games, over 50% of the game's profit comes from 0.5% of the players.[15][16]
