Sons of Mogh should have been the start of a spinoff of Kurn: Morose Bajoran Security Officer and not a deadend C-plot wrap up.

DS9 should have kicked off a single-season miniseries each year. You could have "The Adventures of Laas: Changeling, rear end in a top hat". Or "We're So Sorry: Tales of the Continuing Skrreean Exodus"

Do you think Worf felt bad when like 2 years later his family was in good graces with the Empire again and he consigned his brother to a miserable, non-glorious existence?

I would unironically watch each and every one of these things. Although S7 could've had two: One for Laas, one for Somehow Not-Evil Weyoun, where he bumbles around Dominion-occupied Cardassia going from genocide to genocide with a disdainful affect.

As is evidenced by his behavior towards Kurn, he has no consideration for his behavior. He simply does what he thinks is right and hopes the world acknowledges it as such, when it's rarely ever the case from a logical, more social standpoint. No, Worf. Don't shoot at stuff without knowing what it is first. No, Worf. Don't save your wife, save the Cardassian who is risking his life to get the Good Guys intel on the ongoing Dominion occupation of half the quadrant.

Can we talk about how he's a loving ATROCIOUS father?

Leaves his kid with his elderly grandparents because a starship is no place for a kid. You know.. that starship he serves on as chief of security that is full of loving kids and has a full time counselor?

Then he's just a grumpy dick all the time to him. Pushing the honor poo poo on him constantly when his mother wouldn't have approved and also Worf is dishonorable as gently caress in many cases.

It's bad enough that eventually Alexander ends up on a Bird of Prey presumably to impress the father who never gave his approval. Who Worf then treats like poo poo in that aspect too.

Okay then, let's come up with new ones.

Voyager should have been a musical. Like Cop Rock, but done right, and also in space. With Delta Quadrant themed songs, like rap battles between Kazon factions.
What Voyager really needed was gritty realism. Like in a typical episode they fly to New York and it's 1971 and Harry witnesses a murder but if he testifies the Mob will come after him.
Four little words: gratuitous Neelix nude scene.

What Voyager really needed was more holodeck episodes. The holodeck could become a character and fall in love with the Doctor. And the Doctor likes her but thinks that they shouldn't base a relationship on their one common denominator being that they're holograms.

One of the problems with making the Maquis compelling is that the Federation is actually pretty decent and it's tough to empathize with a group of people who would rather fight kill and be killed by alien fascists for their land instead of resettling on class M planets of their choice that aren't suddenly located inside the borders of the aforementioned alien fascists

I mean I get it, they got screwed over by the peace treaty or whatever but it's not like 21st century Earth where when that happens people just get totally hosed and that's it, no help or further consideration. It's the future and they could have gone anywhere and done anything but instead they repeatedly chose to try and instigate a full interstellar war so they wouldn't have to loving move

also when you live in a land of infinite energy / matter energy conversion and limitless planets it's kind of hard to side with a bunch of jerks that want to go to war over Desert Planet 1b or lovely Marsh Planet 3c.

Even then it had only been a few years that they lived in each place.

That's why I was thinking it makes more sense for them (if we had our druthers) to willingly leave the Federation. Who would leave the Federation?

-Religious extremists probably worshiping one of Star Trek' s many not-Gods
-People who think it's their right to become Khanlike superhumans
-People looking to achieve the Singularity (reverse Data cyborgs)
-Pissed off pre-Warp civilizations that didn't agree with the Prime Directive and leave the Federation to actively spite them and give Federation tech to every planet they come across
-lost human colonies that achieved similar technologies but vastly different governments and ethos
-sympathizers with any of the above

This would make the most sense to me, and why Starfleet Officers would be willingly going over in such numbers.

Instead of "You sat by while Cardassians enacted their legal rights over territory they owned and let them remove squatters that had no ties to the land WHICH IS WHY I GAVE UP MY COMMISSION"

it becomes

"How many times have we saw a disease or a natural disaster kill? How many have died? Regulus 4 the volcanic planet? 3 million. Advan 2? 10 million. Hundreds of millions have died to preserve your ideals and your prime directive" and then you have people that saw thousands of children die of diseases but didn't do anything because of the Prime Directive actually having a reason to go over to the Maquis.

Which would have caused conflict on Voyager as Janeway would be struggling with the Prime Directive herself and having an organized outspoken group against letting tens of millions of people starve because of the prime directive or whatever

some of those planets were complete garbage. The one in TNG was just a shithole desert planet and their big deal was that they built an aqueduct to move enough water to make the place not a scorching hellhole.

They can be given a complete M Class lush verdant planet and a permanent claim over it with federation support but no. Dudes grandpa dug a ditch so lets go to war.
