I remember at one point the initial pitch document for LOST was leaked and most of it was dedicated to emphasizing the fact that, due to the flashback format, it was both a cop show and a hospital show.

It makes sense why Networks would like cop and hospital shows seeing as they both involve mysteries that can then be wrapped up in neat little packages in 40 odd minutes. It just sucks that it's all they care about.

I just finished Gilmore Girls. Its alot like the O.C., minus most of the drama, plus most of the painted on outfits. If Lane Kim was one of my friends, I'd have called child protective services. Babette ate oatmeal.

Just started watching The West Wing for the first time this week. I'm about halfway through season 1 and I'm loving it so far. I did not expect it to be so comedic to me. Thought it was a way more serious toned show. Sam (Rob Lowe) and Josh (Bradley Whitford) are easily my favorites so far. Charlie (Dulé Hill) is great because I was a huge fan of Psych.

This is fine as long as they get the cast of Merlin to fill all the parts, with the Merlin guy as the cranky but well meaning Chief of Police (or Chief Inspector or whatever the UK equivalent is). And they maintain the Merlin is magic and Arthur doesn't know ruse.

But then as time went by and Sorkin became more and more burned out due to his insistence on writing every script, things started to get really heavy-handed. It rebounds quite a bit in the final season, though.

What are some good/crazy seasons of Survivor? They're all on Hulu (well, the last like 20 seasons are). I just watched the most recent season (second chances or whatever) but haven't watched hardly any of the seasons between like season 3 and the last one.

I just watched the most recent season (second chances or whatever) but haven't watched hardly any of the seasons between like season 3 and the last one. Second Chances is one of the two best seasons of Survivor and the best from a strategy perspective. The other best season is Micronesia because it's absolutely loving hilarious and also for being the only season of the Black Widow Natalie Bolton. Besides that I'd also recommend: S4: Marquesas - the first appearance of Boston Rob and one of the most defining moments in Survivor strategy S6: Amazon - a new type of player shows up and they make the game really exciting S7: Pearl Islands - Jonny Fairplay's season S9: Vanuatu - massively underrated S10: Palau - includes the most pathetic tribe in Survivor history S12: Exile Island - for Shane and his alliance of people he completely despises S13: Cook Islands - the racial divide gimmick is bad but it goes soon and fun follows S15: China - one of the best locations they've visited and again lots of comedy S17: Gabon - if you want to watch a bunch of idiots play the game really badly but very entertainingly S18: Tocantins - holy poo poo you need to see Coach in all his glory S20: Heroes vs Villains - a beautiful masterclass in how not to play Survivor S25: Philippines - great mixture of returners and newbies S27: Blood vs Water - the loved one connections make for a really interesting game S28: Cagayan - full of funny moments, insane paranoia and Chaos Kass S29: Blood vs Water II - generally rated low but the post-merge is great and the winner makes some really interesting moves late-game Honestly if you have the time I'd say just watch them all but definitely watch these ones. Preferably in order cause then you see how the game evolves. (I've tried to keep the justifications as spoilerless as possible)

You got off light - I stuck around and watched the NEXT season w/ Peter Dinklidge. The season was even more dark and miserable & every time Dinkledge's character showed up on screen I'd drink until the strength to throw my bottle would leave my body. Imagine my outrage when Dinkledge showed up years later on Game of Thrones (and my shock that I could tolerate the actor).

I agree with most of the list, but I would add 19 if you don't mind some uneven editing since it makes for an exciting prologue to 20. 32, the most recent season, is also pretty great. Also, 16 (Micronesia) was mentioned at the start of that post but not on the numerical order list, make sure you don't forget that one. Also, of that list, 4 is probably the slowest so might be a bad place to start coming right off of 31. 6 or 7 might be more exciting for you.
