That Middian album Scheidt did when Yob was on a hiatus is pretty great.

Yob is playing Hopscotch this year and it's the first time I've seen them around the east NC area since I've known about them... but a ticket would be $95+...

Too bad for you I see that Yob, VHOL and Cobalt are playing Hopscotch, ahh the dates don't work. I may be going to Windhand in Johnson City on the 8th and I have "Weird" Al tickets in Asheville on the 10th. When it rains it pours. I'm also seeing Unlce Acid on the 6th of September. Oh and Pallbearer is playing in Asheville on the 10th too, I'm hoping I can catch them after the "Weird" Al show, heh. edit: Music Content The only thing that's been grabbing me lately is this recent Forn song, I'm pretty sure it's already been posted: https://forn.bandcamp.com/ UFOTacoMan fucked around with this message at 15:40 on Aug 25, 2016 |

if you listen to Bongrippers track "satan" of hail satan worship doom at 1.5x speed it reveals itself as a tribute to all the various sub genres of metal. I mean it was obvious that it had a black metal intro but the rest of it is just riffs in various metal styles. its pretty cool. also listening to Endless off Miserable at the same speed reveals that the intro riff is identical to one off HSWD.

Picked up 300 vinyls from the UPS guy today. He had my address wrong and I had to drive close to 10 miles to this marina in the middle of nowhere, hah. Now I have a lot of cardboard boxes in my living room.

There's hardly any Middian footage out there since they were so short-lived, but this show has been a favorite of mine for a long time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5R5qCcoW10

Apropos of nothing but that first Torche LP is still loving great. It's on youtube but seems to be an older version which sounds thinner and has extra vocals which I'm not a fan of. The superior mix is on Spotify and their official store if you haven't listened to it. And In Return, too. It's so solid and tonally consistent in its short running length that it feels like it should be a concept record, no idea if it actually is but whatever.

Psycho LV! You know, just standing around, behind Jus and Liz from EW waiting for Tribulation to start playing next to a pool under palm trees...that kinda thing. Cave of Swimmers stand out for me....of course Witch Mountain, Kayla Dixon....dang. And Uncle Acid live and in person...upped my fandom of them to Himalayan proportions.

Welp, Uncle Acid finally played Florida and it was incredible. They are so good live. They played a lot from Blood Lust, a couple from Mind Control, and I think 3 or 4 from the newest album. They also played Dead Eyes of London from their very first album which I was surprised to hear. The Shrine and Danava were really good as well. Danava blew me away, I was not expecting them to be so good live.

Goddamn this album is good, best of 2016 as far as sludgey poo poo goes. They're like, Unsane mixed with Neurosis, two of my all time favourites. https://hebosagil.bandcamp.com/

I like the vocals, ugly and desperate but still completely clear and comprehensible (or at least they would be if they weren't Finnish).

I'll see if I can help (not really). Years ago I saw Pig Destroyer at a basement show. I saw Uncle Acid two days ago. If I had never seen either live I'm not sure which one I would choose. Pig Destroyer will obliterate everything for several minutes, which is pretty satisfying. Uncle Acid was cool the other night but... when I first learned of them after Blood Lust was released I went crazy for that sound. Now when I hear the newer stuff I'm always wishing it was a little heavier and a little different somehow. So those feelings carried into the show the other night. It was good, the crowd was a little more "mainstream" than the usual metal show. It sounded good. The vocals were good/OK. They had some combo amps (anyone know what kind?) instead of huge rear end stacks. The band did a good job but I'll say as a person who was super excited about them a few years ago that I left feeling like it was prettay...prettay...prettay good. Two of my friends thought it was awesome. The Uncle Acid guy (Kevin Starrs) was not very interactive with the crowd, he said a few things but it kind of seemed like they were going through the motions. I'm glad I saw them but I can't say that it completely satisfied my metal hunger which is a really dumb sounding thing to type out, I'm sorry. You'll probably have a chance to see Pig Destroyer again I'm not sure I can count on Uncle Acid touring the U.S. again anytime soon. I'm going to see Windhand tonight. I've seen them before, it will be touch boring but at least I can count on them filling the venue with gut shaking sounds.

Uncle Acid was pretty fuckin' great though, just solid heaviness. And then last night I was at Pallbearer and Baroness, which was also pretty loving great. Pallbearer sound a shitton better live than they do recorded and Baroness is a much more intense show than I expected. Tomorrow night is Blind Guardian but that's not what this thread's for

High On Fire dropped a video for "The Black Pot" off of last year's Luminiferous, and it is exactly what I would expect from these dudes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZlgBRokTCg There's a serious Heavy Metal vibe. Seeing them in October with MESHUGGAH, and super stoked. What's a good place to start with Wo Fat? Also, All Them Witches released a live album from their recent tour. The music isn't quite full time doom or stoner metal and is usually described as avant-garde metal.
