I don't know where to post this, so hope you guys won't get mad. Remember Robert Pelloni and his "bob's game"? Well, he released it... sorta. Part of it, at least: https://bobsgame.itch.io/bobs-game-puzzle-game Just checked and he has a Wikipedia page and holy poo poo check this poo poo out: https://bobsgame.itch.io/bobs-game-puzzle-game quote:On April 23, 2014, Pelloni launched the first and only Kickstarter for the previously-announced action-RPG Bob's Game, saying that if the crowd-funding venture was successful, he would invest the money to work from a "hack-van" in order to complete development on the title, and if not, he would put development of the game on indefinite hiatus. On May 22, 2014, with 17 hours left, the game was successfully funded.[17] Pelloni acknowledged this success shortly thereafter on his website. According to a Forbes article published in January 2015, the developer has given up on the project, and plans to refund backers.[18] However, on January 20, 2016, Pelloni denied this claim as he stated via Kickstarter that he had not permanently stopped working on Bob's Game, and had been pitching the game to investors and publishers, to no success. Pelloni cited an unstable living condition and extensive re-writes to the game's code as additional reasons for the delay.[19]

Bob's Game is Frog Fractions 2 in that it's never going to exist in any way beyond consistently loving with the viewerbase that threw money at it. it's been a stunt gag for years. they even revealed a bunch of the stuff about their attempt at creating a viral scheme some time ago.

An interesting/good-looking platformer kickstarter, but I don't know if a game kickstarter can pull in 300k without having a massively popular nostalgia-fueled brand name to back it up: Blubber Busters.

It sounds like a beginning-to-be-reasonable budget for a game, but given the current climate in kickstarter (thanks, MN9!) I don't know if they can pull that in. I mean, the gamedev behind the upcoming game Jupiter Hell has been talking on twitter about how he will not be running the kickstarter for full amount, and using other sources to finance the rest as he simply can't pull off a kickstarter that's big enough. https://twitter.com/epyoncf/status/773548588005818369 https://twitter.com/epyoncf/status/773551943918751748 (that entire discussion is fascinating and depressing)

That's not even the most anxious thread on Jupiter Hell---but drat it all do I believe in that project and the dude behind it as I know he's been absolutely busting it month after month for ages now in pursuit of this crazy thing as probably only he can do. This sort of project is exactly the sort of thing that really makes one hate the well poisoners from the early days up to now for making what was already a largely precipitous path with a hopeful glimmer at the end needlessly moreso to slake their base greed and vanity. I know folks have been aiming for the stars in game dev since the 80's far beyond what most would consider to be contemporary reason, but with the stakes of nowadays and the outright inescapable heaps of capital to beget dev momentum only getting larger still---it honestly feels like there's been a systemic failing along the way that at least shaves, if not deeply cuts, the slim odds of the signature bolts from the blue that have been a key component all the while from happening.

As you play, the whales who show up to your orbital "waiting room" will start exhibiting more and more acute symptoms; you'll have to quickly decide how to optimize your exploration for upgrades and needs for cash against the growing demands of your patients. Each patient effectively represents a level that will enable you to earn cash and test your fighting mettle. IDK, it looks a little scattershot to me. Each whale that comes in is a separate level, so that makes me think procedurally generated. And then there's base building elements. And time management? It's all over the place.

Like, it may have that add-on stuff but I'm here for solid platformer action. If they can actually fund it, that is. Kicktraq says that isn't possible, but I'd like to hope anyways.
