Well, what would you like to hear?

I also frequent other clubs, of course, such as Kater Blau, Sisyphos, about blank, Kosmonaut, Golden Gate, Rummels Bucht, Griessmühle, Hopetosse, etc to name a few. I don't know if there are any other berlinposters in this thread, but i'm happy to talk about the berlin clubbing scene in general too!

Coming back to techno during daylight: yes, its very good, although berghain is not really the place to enjoy the sun. lots of clubs have outside areas where you can enjoy the sun much better during the day (and many of them are open saturday through monday), which can be really good - especially during the summer when it gets very hot in berlin... and VERY loving hot inside the clubs.

Hmm... the scene in general, your opinion on how to get into Berghain, what's it like at various times of day, as well when you prefer to go. Stories of your favorite experiences, it can be anything really.

I should clarify what I said about daylight: context wasn't necessarily about being outdoors, but more about not screwing up your sleep schedule. Party in the daylight hours of Sunday, go to bed, be able to function on Monday.

I've been digging through some of Niereich's old podcasts & while there is lots to love there, this one really caught me. Deep, noodly business that's still dance floor friendly.

I've been out of the scene since '97, so I'm absolutely clueless about labels/artists now.

I was in the same boat as you a few years ago but you can catch up pretty quick. I agree you can skip forward to '05 without missing too much. I would add Giegling, Mote-evolver and Delsin as labels worth looking into.

Just discovered this thread - anyone here in the Netherlands? Been trying to find good places around the south of the country but there really doesn't seem to be much going on regularly.

I'm going to Soenda which has a pretty good lineup but haven't found much else (aside from awakenings and dekmantel which are sold out/expensive)

What parties are people going to at Movement this year? I think I'm hitting up smartbar x RA on Friday, deciding between Tresor/Discwoman/Club toilet on Saturday, No Way Back on Sunday and the Bunker party on Monday if I stick around for it.

Hello everyone, sorry forgot to post and then I got banned :)

Mini trip report:

Went to Panorama Bar on Friday where Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann played. They do that once a year (in P bar I mean, they obviously play downstairs at Berghain normally).

It was insanely good. Went in around midnight because I thought Ben Klock was doing the opening (he wasn't, a guy called Nitam did 00.00 - 03.00), and stayed till about 14:00, when Ben was STILL playing. What a legend.

There was lots of b2b, but Ben played most of the time. It was cool to hear his interpretation of the tech house you usually get at P Bar. A little harder, a little rawer. Everyone had a good time and was enjoying these guys in the small surroundings of the P Bar. Klock even poured drinks into the glasses of the people dancing at the console :3

Oh, went to see Andreas Henneberg at Sisyphos the week before, which was really good too!

i don't have any experience with this personally, but i do think I have seen people being turned away with pre booked tickets. however, I imagine this only happens in extreme cases with a ticketed event!

The trip report from Berghain was awesome. I've seen both those guys play the main room but I've been dying to see them play upstairs. I know from other accounts having the techno guys play house is always a treat (probably because they have so many records they've been dying to play but cant)

Also, for some reason I forgot how wonderful Shed is/was. His tracks used to be my life but they fell out of rotation for a bit. Last night it all came back to me during a gig and I just started playing all of his classics out. It cleared the dance floor for a bit but all the Headhigh stuff is killer. And that EQD release..

If it's a ticketed event on a Friday they shouldn't turn people away. The only ticketed event I've been there was on a Thursday in the Kantine and they didn't seem to be turning away. That said, still probably avoid showing up a with bunch of British bros with collared shirts. Also, that's such a wonderful lineup. Move D is such a lovely performer and Donato is pure hypnosis.

Quite frankly I don't see the point of going to the fest proper. The lineup isn't that great and the after parties are way better + you'd have be on heroic amounts of drugs to do both. Discwoman on Saturday will be good and No Way Back on Sunday. Friday has a lot of decent looking parties, but they all seem to end around 4, which might be for the best anyways.

Any of you of a good an affordable mastering and/or mixing studio you can send your tracks to? There is so much choice online, but without much experience it's tricky to know which ones are good.

Depends on your definition of affordable I guess.

Glowcast is very reputable and masters a decent array of techno folks and is about $60 a track.

Manmade is about the same.

If those are too much 24mastering is Misjah's mastering studio, he has plenty of techno cred and also a pretty solid client list, and that's more like $40 a track.

There's others out there in that 40-60/track price range. Less than that you're just paying some random rear end in a top hat to "master" it in his bedroom so don't bother.

Personally I would go with Glowcast just because they have such a good reputation for doing a high quality job on everything that comes their way.
