I always wished you could skip doors but then there was that one door in the police shack of RE2 here if you opened it ZOMBIES and then I wished the series did that more. Not super often of course, just once in a while, maybe just once per game. I guess Nemesis chasing you through rooms counted.

No, Nick is actually immune. As a plot reason.

It's really Chuck who was immune for no reason when you think about it, I guess he just didn't get bitten during Dead Rising 2.

Played through re4 yet again. Never played through classic resident evils, so should I try them? Love 4, played multiple times through 5, once through 6, played but not finished both revelations. Tank controls and the inventory system kinda scare me away, but otherwise interested in playing them.

The remastered version of REmake has optional camera relative controls so you could try that, using them makes it super easy though.

I believe there is a quick turn, but it's hard to remember what was in what game after all these years. The best advice is that oftentimes (especially with the slow zombies) it's better to just avoid enemies altogether rather than killing them. If you're turned off by the oldness of the game I would suggest picking up the REmake HD Remaster on any of the modern platforms, that's the best one to go back to if all you've played is RE4.

Oh for gently caress's sake. RE3 (PC) decided to ruin my latest run with dumb self-imposed challenge (an attempt at no-saving on Hard*) by suddenly and inexplicably crashing during Carlos' segment in the hospital. Up until that point everything was going pretty wonderfully, too. Got the key to Room 402 (Sickroom Key), left the Data Room and... and...

...

...sigh. That's about an hour or so down the loving toilet.

*"That doesn't seem very challenging!", some of you may be thinking. And you're right, except that in my case, it's a pretty stupid idea to go around not saving when playing a game with so many pseudo-random elements, since I have the absolute worst luck in the world with this stuff.

Best tip is to start at the beginning of the series and get used to feeling like a cumbersome lead-footed fool when you'll only have a few things attacking at once :v: There is actually a Green Herb just outside the front of the RPD in one of the plant tubs near the underpass stairway though, which should/might help.

But no, there isn't a Quickturn action in RE2, outside of using Autoaim to spin around quickly to shoot something behind you. Which character are you using?

Lucky you, Leon is the easier of the two characters if you're a beginner. Anyway!

First tip: get the Shotgun from Kendo after the zombies bite his face off. Shoot them down first if you have to though, since there's no point in taking heavy damage so early on.
Second tip: don't use the Shotgun AT ALL until you encounter the Licker. There's enough handgun ammo scattered around the route to the RPD to mow down anything that gets in the way.

That's about it, really, at least for the early game (I know, it's a real in-depth guide!). As long as you bother searching rooms properly, RE2 becomes incredibly generous with health/ammo supplies once you get to the RPD. I still wouldn't get too happy with the Shotgun on mere zombies until later on, though.

Nah, not everything, just a few items here and there. Most things are in plain sight really, you just have to roam around each room fully for the camera angle to change and show you where some stuff is.

Honestly, DR3 may be the weakest in the series but it gets a bad rap. Especially from those who haven't played it. I blame that godawful first gameplay reveal which made it look like a grity Walking Dead style game for this personally, because the game is nothing like that. Capcom marketing just wanted to make the game look like the Walking Dead because that's what was popular at the time.

Actually Capcom wanted the game to be super ultra mega serious and outright said so during an interview, they received so much flak for it that every single piece of advertising after that was about how funny the game was going to be, wacky costumes, the old DR humor, the coop character is named DICK, get it, Nick and Dick?

You wanna see how the game originally meant to be? Play the DLC campaigns, there isn't a lick of humor in any of them and they lack personality.

Mechanically though? Dead Rising 3 is the best in the series and the combat finally feels GOOD, the combo weapons range from absurd to downright retarded like the electric staff which just trivializes the game, escorting and rescuing takes a big pretty big backseat as well, you still rescue people but there's not that many of them and they're actually quite strong if you opt to bring them with you, honestly your enjoyment of DR3 really depends on what aspects you like about Dead Rising, Nick for example is a protagonist the audience was meant to relate to, he's not I don't give a gently caress zombie killing god like Frank or just a total pun spewing straight man like Chuck.

I think Revelations 2 is possibly one of the best entries in the series but I wouldn't say my opinion is the "general opinion". I think it gets kind of a mixed reaction from folks.

I wouldn't say that, Hunter and Brad's DLC campaigns were pretty entertaining. Hunter moreso for his casual sociopathy and not really giving a gently caress about what was going on while Brad was entertaining because he was trying too hard to be Captain America in a zombie apocalypse that it was jarring. That last one could well be unintentional though. Angel's was a joyless slog that didn't add anything new that was actually good and Kane's DLC campaign was you basically playing as a villain and infecting the safehouses throughout the city that Nick would clear out later.

I really like it, but then I also really like RE6 which in some circles apparently makes me the worst person to have ever lived. And yes, it's fun to play solo. Being a PC owner I didn't really have that much of a choice in that regard, but I enjoyed it all the same and replayed it almost immediately.

I really loved Revelations 2 and also played it solo (by choice) the Raid mode is some great arcadey action with enough RPG elements to keep it fresh. Only thing I didn't like was levelling multiple characters to unlock their skills for other characters.

Not sure about that either. I had to grind Barry (I think) to whatever level to max out his Magnum skill so EVERYONE could spec into Magnums and the same with one of the other dudes with Sniper Rifles because I think those are the only two weapon skills not everyone can get.

Emphasis on 'gets in the way.' Once you make it to the RPD, you never ever have to go back out into the streets again (in fact, you aren't able to) so you should definitely dodge as many zoms as you can - once you're past any given zombie in the streets, you never have to worry about that particular zombie again.

Maybe I phrased my point poorly, because near enough everything in the game after the gun shop gets in my way; really, you can just mow 'em all down on route to the RPD without suffering for it at all :v:
