Man, it's a good thing they put in rules to speed up baseball otherwise 1 hour long innings might become commonplace!

I agree with you but I don't really agree that it was the highest leverage at that point since the bases were empty, unless you can get more runs later on you're going to have a higher leverage situation in a now-one run game.

if there had been a couple people on base (before Kenley put them there) it would've made more sense to bring him in

EDIT: ignore me, I forgot they let one more on before bringing in Jansen.

He just finished a start on short rest and If he threw any appreciable amount of pitches it'd completely gently caress the Dodgers come the NLCS.

The funny thing is it's not really a new idea so much as an ancient/forgotten one.

Rollie Fingers-era closers came early/when it was needed all the time.

Eckersley (iirc) was the beginning of "9th inning only" style closers coming in vogue.

I don't know what there is to complain about the Urias usage. Dayton was also a fine move at the time as he's the second best RP available at that point and he had a clean inning to work with, he just didn't have it today.

Ross Stripling is a lefty starter still available in the pen, other than Baez he's probably the best available now
