Best pitchers for highest leverage dummies, that was the right move I agree with you but I don't really agree that it was the highest leverage at that point since the bases were empty, unless you can get more runs later on you're going to have a higher leverage situation in a now-one run game. if there had been a couple people on base (before Kenley put them there) it would've made more sense to bring him in EDIT: ignore me, I forgot they let one more on before bringing in Jansen.

Rollie Fingers-era closers came early/when it was needed all the time. Eckersley (iirc) was the beginning of "9th inning only" style closers coming in vogue.
