Not to argue about vidya games on the internet, but the GBA/DS library is vastly superior to any mobile platform's.

It's sadly broken now, but the last pad I had was small enough to fit on my keys, doubled as a keyfinder, and also worked for remotely playing/pausing my music and skipping tracks. It was considerably more useful than any old handheld console, and took up a lot less space. It's easy to install a couple of emulators and keep some old ROMs on my phone to play sometimes (little tip for your reading comprehension: this is not the same as "insisting on playing at all times"). They are fun to play, have nostalgia value for me and are a lot more fun than some of the poo poo you find on the Play Store. I would not, however, go to the length of carrying a collection of old handhelds and cartridges which is what I would have to do in order to have similar functionality otherwise.

You seem to be implying that playing old GBA games is childish, while playing current Android games is... what, grownup and sophisticated? That's hilarious dude. They're all video games.

Debating replacing my 6P with an Axon, but the camera quality is giving me pause and the display models at my local Best Buy weren't charged when I stopped in.

Battery life is a myth, dehumanize yourself and face to bloodshed a battery pack/good wall charger (they'll probably all do a day comfortably with your use case).

Right on. Think I might just eat the $250 increase for the peace of mind and """"future proofing"""" instead of going with a smaller brand that I don't know about service on. The regular pixel also seems to be the smallest out of all those which is another big point in its favor.

Ah. Yeah, and that should be pretty obvious. A desktop computer's not a toy just because it can run Fallout.

Mobile games themselves really need some work, though. Most are so casual they hardly qualify as anything more than a skinner box.

To be fair, designers can use those quest based achievements as a rough estimate to see how far players get in the game. They're stupid for gamers, but give good information for the creators to see what works and what doesn't once the game is in the wild.

EDIT: Can I hook up a keyboard and mouse to my phone so I can stream Counter-Strike to the phone for remote play on the go?

The Amzn Fire earbuds are basically just like the old Apple earbuds and own for passive walkin' around use and are a perfect combo for times when you still to hear want ambient noise so you don't get raped/mugged/hit by a car/hit by a train/etc, especially for only $15. They also support volume/pause/next/last and have a good enough mic for phone calls. They worked on both my MXP 15 and current N6p.

They are also so cheap you can spring for a nice alternate set for other times.

Woot! My Moto X Pure arrived today and, after a long wait at Verizon to find the right sim, is tickety-boo. I love the way it fits my hand, and I love the fancy colors I picked out. Mine's got the "ebony" back and blue metallic highlights. The only confusing thing is that I keep trying to press the decorative metal bar at the bottom of the device, which is not a button. But the curved, slightly textured back is very pleasant in my hand, and the screen's a good size. Half the cost of the :rip: Note 7, too. I'll miss the fingerprint thingy and the pen, but such is life.

If you decide you want a Pure, I highly, highly recommend ordering it directly from Motorola, rather than from a reseller, both because of the fun of picking out colors and because you can then buy Motorola's 2-year warranty against all problems, including up to three accidents. All versions of the phone are currently backordered; I wonder if that's a response to disappointment with the latest gen of smartphones, to the Samsung recall, or to the phase of the moon.

P.S. It now has a 256 external memory card, thanks to the promotion Samsung offered when I originally bought the Note 7.

The storage partition for upgrades is a really unique feature. On the phones moving forward there are two partitions: Primary and secondary. When a upgrade is pushed, the upgrade is applied to the secondary partition in the background with minimal fuss for the user. When it's completed the upgrade the user is notified to reboot.

User reboots into the new update (no long drawn out upgrade bar) and if everything goes good, users stays on the new primary partition. The old one becomes the newest staging ground for the next update.
