The black squirrel has become the predominant squirrel species In Van Wert, Ohio—descendants of several examples reputedly trapped in Michigan during the 1970's by two local residents who wanted to prove their existence to disbelieving friends.[citation needed] Fort Mitchell, Kentucky maintains a significant population of black squirrels after several were introduced from Detroit prior to 1977.[4] Black squirrels were introduced to Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts, in 1948, having been brought from Michigan as a gift to a local business man. The squirrels are thriving in the park as of 2015. They have also been recently (2016) spotted in Washington State on the northern Olympic Peninsula.[17] Marysville, Kansas has a notable population of black squirrels which legend claims arrived there by escaping from a travelling circus.[18][19] The city of Hobbs, New Mexico attempted to introduce black squirrels from Marysville in 1973. However, the new population of black squirrels did not survive, likely having been killed by local fox squirrels shortly after their introduction.[18]

Genre[edit] Fratire generally features male protagonists, usually in their twenties and thirties. It is characterized by masculine themes and could be considered the male equivalent of chick lit.[1][3] The genre was popularized by Tucker Max's I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell and Maddox's webpage titled The Best Page in the Universe and his book The Alphabet of Manliness. According to one of the authors, "fratire as a genre represents the non-mainstream literary reaction to the feminization of masculinity," although not all the books address this so directly.[4] Etymology[edit] Fratire is a portmanteau of fraternity and satire. The term was introduced by The New York Times reporter Warren St. John in a 2006 article titled Dude, here's my book. Allegedly, it was the only word allowed by the editor.[1][4] Tucker Max, after first hearing the term during a telephone interview with St. John, said, "Great Holy Jesus. Warren, that is awful. First off, I wasn't in a fraternity. Neither was Maddox. In fact, none of the writers you are profiling in your article was in a frat. Please, call it anything else."[4] The term aimed to classify the recent publication of male-centric books that focused on alcohol and sexual themes. Publishers continued to push the genre as a sales tactic.[5] After the success of the books published by Max and Maddox, publishers and reporters attempted to capitalize on the trend with new iterations of the word, including "lad lit," "dicklit," "frat-lit" and "menaissance."[6] [7]

On an episode of WWF SmackDown! (aired Thursday, April 13, 2000), Professional wrestler, The Big Show dresses as Fat Bastard and reveals what's under the kilt, much to Kurt Angle's disgusted chagrin. Commentator Michael Cole suggested it was a thong. I like to be funny, I like to entertain. But I'm in the body of a monstrous killer. So, doesn't quite compute. — The Big Show, The Best of SmackDown: 10th Anniversary, commenting on the matter
