Oh wait poo poo Azazel did, but maybe he's a special case? He also might not have technically told a lie during that encounter.

H, solely because I want to hear Tudiya's reasons for why he doesn't buy the story. Though I guess he might not give us any reason and just say he knows better.

I find it interesting that he doesn't seem to have actually read any minds, and wasn't able to fact-check Hagar since she refuses to speak (nor did he compel her to). He speaks with such conviction, but he's really 'just' saying that he's reasoned out that there are no tablets and that Hagar's a big glory hound, not that he's definitely unveiled the truth.

We should ask Tudiya if we should provide cheerleaders and snacks for the people while they watch a frail old woman be slowly beaten to death with rocks. No worries, I'm sure El will forgive his bloodlust if he pretends to care and prays for long enough. Maybe we can hand out little "mercy is never misplaced" flags for the event.

Holy poo poo Kadovel to Zepath, Ishamal chat, and back again in SIX HOURS? Dad's loving fast, you guys.

The command the throw the first stone is...pretty open ended. Tudiya knows our strength. If we cast the first stone with our full abilities, it's going to go clear through her and whatever is the backdrop, save a sturdy hillside. That's instant death unless we target an extremity, in which case shock is a given. Could be he wants her to die without too much suffering, who knows? I want to be on Dad's good side, and the whole process gets defeated by a deathblow, but I'm not up to having Hagar get pelted to death by a bunch of amateurs.

A with a B bias:
She violated an oath given to the King in order to avoid execution. She broke it big time. Law being what it is, the original sentence is to be carried out, if not amplified. We gave her an assload of opportunities to fix the situation, and nothing came of them. Sentence passed and delivered. Limited strength blow the throat, collapse her windpipe without breaking her neck. She may suffer a bunch of following blows to the casual observer, but ours will put a huge time limit on her time on the rock-chucking-line as it were without being immediately lethal.

I'd post a question for Dad about it, but this smacks heavily of the sort of thing we need to learn and grow from. I'm pretty sure Dad's giving us a lesson about ruling here in giving us this kind of leeway.

I don't think people are really grasping the extent of what Hagar has done, which is why so many are still clinging to the narrative that we're joyously murdering some innocent old lady who never did anything wrong.

She didn't just con a bunch of people into paying her for the chance to wear boxes on their heads.

Hundreds of people literally risked their lives and the lives of their loved ones and (as far as they're concerned) their immortal souls for what she was preaching. Some of them DID die, getting stoned to death in other cities when they were found out.
And now it turns out she was lying about all of it.

I can't deny that she did have SOME good ideas - gender equality, no slavery, stuff like that.

But the fact is, that on the whole, she was peddling bullshit, and a lot of people were putting themselves at a very real risk by going along with it.

B. We can take her out relatively painlessly. Let's make the execution as reflective an event as possible instead of catharsis-through-torture.

Nothing says we can't keep encouraging those good ideas while governing Kavodel.

Bending towards gender equality and discouraging slavery are all good things that don't have to be tied to that time that we blacked out because we broke a statue that looked like us.

Enkidel has nearly absolute social and legal authority in Kavodel. We just have been having to slog through difficult dilemmas on the way to further doing better things over all.

Accept the ruling because Haggar was doing something fucky making that statue that way. And she went against her vow, her kindness swayed us to look the other way but we also got some unwarranted fuzzies and nice feelings when we started considering that statue. Probably a parallel of the charm that we got way back when that we got from indor. Nothing direct or subverting free will, but just a nudge that helps.

Ironically, an unwarranted fuzzy feeling towards the affair actually DID sway voters to write it off as nothing. (same as fred the retconned demon donkey)

Anytime we actually had Diog narrate something beyond "this is you wife and familiy you feel great about them" or "Your balls are precious to you" its been some sort of mind-influencing thing. We've even caught own to this once when we sussed out the dream before our choice to be sterile was from an outside messenger. Because of inconsistencies on whom those injected feelings applied to.

None of the friendly players will do these things to us, because the consequences if we go full nuclear are too real.

Hagar was playing the long game, cultivating a source of feel-good worship that appealed to our nature and subverting the next king of Zepath. Because that's what we are right now. She knew enough of our nature and the moral values we held dear to really cultivate something that we wanted to grow. We started a slave and were ascended to royalty while having a softness for the other side of the coin and she used that to the hilt.

If anything, the fact that her cult has feet means that we have some real social ills to ameliorate and address. We're doing good with the no hard labor slavery and such but I think we should go further and possibly institute a Kavodel Jubilee much more often than the tradition.
