That's part of the post game story, but You get special pokeballs to catch them and have to catch them for the story to continue. On the third island, go north from the city (ignoring what the Plot wants you to do by that point), and you'll find a waste treatment plant. At the parking lot of the plant there is a tanned old man wearing a red shirt. Talk to him and agree to become his apprentice. He'll teach you the elegant style and the left-handed style. Talk to him again and he'll let you switch styles back and forth. He has a list of other styles you can get, but each require some sort of vague unlock conditions. He'll tell you what they are but they usually amount to "Hang out with cool people!" or "Spend time around women!" I sort of assume this means you need to battle a certain amount of trainers that use that style themselves, but can't really confirm yet.

After most trials you're given a pack of 10 of a new ball relevant to that trial. You can always buy pokeballs, great balls, etc, and buying 10 at a time gets you a premier ball again. Other ball types can be found at specific pokecenters as far as I can tell, and you can get a ball shop to move in to your festival plaza that can sell various types of balls. My only complaint in this regard is that certain balls seem (at the point I'm at) to be in very short supply. Whenever you get an apricorn ball, you're given a single one of them, for example.

Among the many things I love in that preview, there's Lillie having a smear frame, and during that she touches Mallow's arm so for a second she has huge popped eyes. I didn't catch on to it the first time, all I could see was Lillie moving fast and something surprising happening real quick that made my eyes stay at Mallow's side of the screen. This is gonna be the prettiest long-run anime.  To the people playing it: how's the game difficulty? are S.O.S. Battles interesting enough? or do the final trials feel "less" than a gym with 3 pokemon like the last two gens?
