Now everybody but Bama has no margin for error.

It's a good thing Penn State is playing Rutgers this week because we suffered two more OL injuries on top of losing our two starting tackles a few weeks ago. God knows what the plan is, but there's a chance we'll burn a redshirt on a tackle. Franklin probably wouldn't do this if the Big Ten championship game wasn't suddenly in play. I don't want to take anything for granted, even though it's Rutgers, it's still a night game. But if there is a game to safely break in a new lineman, it's this one.

Sean White now says he probably should've been more honest with the coaches about his injury; Lashlee's comments seem to say they didn't fully grasp how useless his arm was and felt like he was just on a cold streak. I'm pretty sure they just waited too long and if Georgia hadn't burned so much clock on their last drive Franklin would've come in, but with less than two minutes (and a lovely KO return) there's not enough time for a QB you don't trust to throw. I'm sure Georgia's defense prepared for whatever Gilded Age offense JF3 would have to run, but I would've liked to find out if they prepared well enough. I don't think they're "frauds" unless a lack of offensive depth is enough to qualify as one now. The defense is still way too good to write them off. It was dumb to count this game, against an opponent that ALWAYS does this to Auburn, as in hand and assume a 9-2 team was on its way to Tuscaloosa. Gus has done enough to save his job. but he burned all his surplus goodwill yesterday and goes into next season in the same place he started this one. Priority one is preparing Woody Barrett as a credible backup, at a minimum, if not the actual starter.

So let's say Penn State, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin all win out, and OSU and Michigan win their next game. If OSU beats Michigan, they'll have wins over three of the top 8 teams, including a tough OOC game they scheduled, with their sole loss coming to another top 10 team. If CFP ranking is the same as the AP, OSU would also be beating the #4 team as #2 in their last regular season game. When looked at this way, it seems crazy that they would be excluded. But at the same time, assuming Alabama and Clemson win out and are locks, it also seems wrong to put OSU in over a conference champ one-loss Washington, or maybe even crazier, the champion of their own conference. Playoff committee needs a lot more craziness to go down by then or they're going to have a new-level controversy on their hands.

OSU has such a strong resume I'd be fine with them over UW. I've been hyping UW all season but the lackluster win over Utah and the loss this week where they were totally dominated just doesn't shine to me like OSU dismantling the potential Big 12 champs, destroying a very good Nebraska, and adding another 2 good wins over Wisconsin and, for this argument, Michigan. Look, OSU made their bed with that PSU loss so whatever happens is on them but I think it'd be a shame to not see them included if they win out. Bama vs OSU has the makings of a classic, especially when you rear end in the hype on the re-match.

Didn't do this yesterday because I wasn't sure how the Big Ten East title race looked, but now I see that Penn State somehow has the inside track and I still don't think the committee will send a non-conference champion to the playoffs unless there is a huge reason to do so. -Highly accurate and important Thoguh Playoff Projections update. Week 1: Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Stanford Week 2: Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Stanford Week 3: Alabama, Ohio State, Louisville, Stanford Week 4: Alabama, Ohio State, Louisville, Stanford Week 5: Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Washington Week 6 Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Washington Week 7: Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, Washington Week 8: Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, Washington Week 9: Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, Washington Week 10: Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, Washington Week 11: Alabama, Clemson, Washington, Wisconsin I slid in Wisconsin because I think Ohio State beats Michigan and that'll send Penn State to the B1G title game and I think Wisconsin beats Penn State in Indy. Also that Oklahoma State/Central Michigan ref gently caress up has a legitimate chance of being an issue with the playoffs at this point. If Oklahoma State goes 2-0 to end the season does the committee treat them as a 1 loss conference champ or a 2 loss conference champ? That could matter since the Pac-12 could easily end up with a 2 loss conference champ.

I think in this situation Ohio State would go in over Wisconsin. If Penn State would beat Wisconsin I think Penn State makes it in instead of Ohio State. I really think as long as Louisville and Clemson keep winning, Wisconsin has to beat Michigan in the Big Ten title game to get in. If Lousiville or Clemson ends up with 2 losses then I could see both Wisconsin and Ohio State making it in this situation.
