I'm glad I decided to complete my living pokedex in ORAS and not this one, because man the call for help system can be annoying as gently caress. Thank God I only have to catch the new Pokemon and Alola forms to complete my set. I feel like in terms of flavor and storyline, this is a big step up from the blandness of Gen 6, but for the most part, gameplay has taken a step down. I.E. you can only do online stuff in the festival plaza, and the QR scanning thing doesn't sound nearly as good as friend safari or mirage spots. That said, I think Z-moves are a better mechanic than Mega Evolutions as any Pokemon can use them, although I wish I could press start and skip the long animations without having to turn off all battle animations.

Stoutland Search is insanely annoying to use. Will I miss anything important by not using it at all? I don't care for potions and such, thinking more about TMs.

So some story questions between Islands 2 & 3 I accidentally murdered the UB that shows up in the Aether Base. Did I just miss my shot at this UB or was it uncatchable to begin with.

OK I'm confused now. Dr. Fetus said that a bug made evolving mons with non-full movesets get relearner moves instead of level moves. Other people came up with data points to disprove him. Now I have a Hakamo-o that's just evolved and learned Sky Uppercut. I'm not complaining, but .

Is there anything to breeding other than leaving my croconaw with a male pokemon she can breed with (help here would be appreciated) and just running around in circles until they produce an organic egg-shaped cradle for their adoptive child of the same species as the mother?

They both need to be in the same egg group http://www.serebii.net/pokemon_advance/egg-group.shtml If they are, put 'em both in the daycare and run around, you'll see the gal outside the place cross her arms--that means there's an egg of the same species as the mother Your life will be 100% easier when you get a ditto. Whatever you put in with a Ditto comes out as the non-ditto.

I clawed my way to the endgame, and I'm absolutely thrilled at the feature I earned at the battle tree. You can finally browse all of your Pokémon's IVs directly from the PC, with both descriptive text and a graphic showing the stat spread. It's everything I've ever wanted... It's unobtrusive for players that don't need it or want to see it, but easy to toggle on for those that do want to see it. Browsing the potential of your Pokémon is now quick and convenient. I didn't think they'd actually go and do it. Glad to see I was wrong.

Is there some trick to catching Pokemon with Natures/Abilities you want, because so far that's what's killing my interest I've caught, no joke, like 50+ Rockruff in the wild hoping to get a Nature that boosts Attack (preferably something like Adamant) and has the Vital Spirit ability, and I've never even come close, and it's making me lose interest - like, I'd even accept Lonely or Brave or Naughty, but all I ever seem to get is Keen Eye and Timid and I just do not loving want that :/

The Unova E4 is easily the least memorable in the franchise, likely because they're basically an afterthought, your first bout with them is deliberately made easier as prelude to N's Castle, and your "official" battles with them are all technically post-game. God no. The XY Elite Four was horrible - Malva was the only one who was at all interesting, the other three have about the same characterization as the Gen I Elite Four before remakes and the anime fleshed them out. The Unova one was at least cool because you meet Marshall beforehand, Caitlin was a surprise cameo from P/HGSS, and the book girl always said something new when you fought her. Grimsley I remember for his gambler persona. I couldn't tell you poo poo about the Kalos one on the other hand - I basically remember Malva because she was Team Flare, and the knight guy only because he's super goony and talks very chivalrously. He's one step removed from calling my in-game character "m'lady".

The Synchronize ability can make it much more likely to find the specific nature of its user. (Like a modest Espeon in party slot 1 makes wild Pokémon very likely to be modest natured.) If you're having tons of trouble, though, a goon could hook you up with a hatched one. Maybe even me, if you're interested?

Took a look at GTS for the first time and wow you can filter it so that the only trades that show up are the ones requesting Pokemon you have in your box. Granted when I did this looking for a Granbull there was nothing left after, but it's still nice.

Oh wow very helpful bro I mean, I'm not saying I'm "due" to get what I want - I understand that every Pokémon is "rolled" individually, you're not "due" for a heads result on a coin flip just because you've seen more tails results - but if there's really no method you can use to affect the outcome, I think I'm just going to trade the game in, because that isn't fun I've killed hundreds of Roggenrolas, Machops, Spindas, Carbinks, and Sableyes just to even get the chance to catch a Rockruff and they're all universally pretty lovely, which, yep, is pretty frustrating Mizuti posted:Yes! It also does if you get a status effect, because you can cure those in Refresh too It's not every battle but it's pretty drat common. Like every time my Dugtrio would use Magnitude in a battle I'd get to do Refresh after to wipe the dirt off its face(s)

Can't believe you'd forget Siebold, the pissed off water chef with the nasty Clawitzer, Drasna the sweet old dragon lady and Wikstrom, the guy who speaks like he's from the 15th century. And if he did say "m'lady", it would be 100% sincere and very cool and respectful. The four of them combined is also a story about slaying a dragon and reaching the princess Champion. Like come on! But I also agree they were very unmemorable, mainly because they were some of the more recent games and you haven't played them over and over again like with other generations. The nostalgia meter has now reached the 4th generation, so a lot of people think it was pretty cool, but they don't remember much about it.
