Instant failure for knocking out a woman I didn't realize was one of the off-limits targets. I really wish that had been clearer, I haven't done an ET with that restriction before and I (reasonably?) assumed that as long as I didn't actually hurt them it was fine so I wasn't worried knocking someone out without rewatching the briefing to double-check their outfit. I thought "if this is one of them I might have to restart so the routes they all follow don't break."

I mean I understand choking someone hurts them but mechanically this is a game that allows people to be forced into dumpster comas for indeterminate lengths of time without ill effect. Did I miss something in the briefing that specifies it?

Nope. It's just an unspoken definition of what counts as “hurting” someone. They clarified it 8 pages deep in a forum post once, and that's about it. You are allowed to make them sick, and that's about it.

When you're talking about elusive targets, you don't take any chances. If the briefing explicitly states that non-targets are not to be harmed, don't do anything to them. It's pretty simple, people. You can kill a target without bothering the protected NPCs; you don't get a second chance to kill a target if that method of pacification you thought was "not harming" an NPC instantly fails you.

Be patient, be safe, don't rush into things. Even if you think you've got it, take a few moments to consider everything and then start from the beginning.

Old ETs don't count for the new unlocks they introduced last month, so I'm guessing you got one of those. All ETs you've completed should count for the old ET challenges (5, 10, and 13 ETs total).

WindyMan posted:

They've added a new set of suit unlocks based on how well you do in Elusive Targets. You can unlock a level-specific suit for completing an ET in each of the six levels. Additionally, you can get additional suits for Silent Assassin ratings during ETs, starting from the previous ET (#14). One of the challenges is for doing one SA ET (which you just got), another is for five SA ETs. There will be a many elusive targets in the future for you to have plenty of opportunity to unlock the rest of the suits, so no worries.
Yeah, I guess they only just added the challenges for them? I know they said all the new stuff was in since the celebrity chef and I killed him and Mrs Brady, Old Lady but this was the first time I actually got any challenges at the end. I was just worried it wasn't counting retroactively but the second challenge is to complete 10 elusive targets - I was getting it confused with the challenge to do 5 on silent assassin. :v:

Pretty much this. Even so, the wording on the condition could be made clearer as the exact same question came up last time they tried it.

Yeah, I mean I don't object to the rule at all, just wish it was communicated fully. Maybe if failing that way still let you restart the ET? That's starting to get a bit confusing in a different way then, though.

I kinda enjoyed how simple this ET was. No super fancy trick to it, nor an endlessly long trek across a map, just getting into the right room and waiting for the right time to strike. Not to say they should all be so simple, but it felt appropriate for it to be such a down to earth hit, given the story. The previous ET on the other hand could have done with some more of her meeting people for tea/murder, instead of her being some old lady walking machine. Scoping out a place for an opportunity to kill her while she's scoping it out to kill her host could've be an interesting twist.

That's just it: the only additional condition pointed out in the briefing is that they must not be ˘harmed” — exactly what counts as “harmed” is not clearly outlined, and includes things that wouldn't be classified as harm in the regular game.

Still, I suppose listing it on the website is an improvement over the last time, but it's still one of those things that really should be a very explicit mission info card, much like you'd get with the escalation restrictions.

…at most, it has a slightly bigger hit radius than you'd expect, but not big enough to really be called explosive.

When in doubt, try it without hitting anyone first, then restart.

I got him by starting in the safehouse - Dropped down to the next apartment and took the guard's uniform from the laundry, picked up my sniper rifle from the apartment drop then moseyed over to the tower on the villa grounds across from city hall. Yes, please, come stand in front of the window while I'm aiming at your head :haw:

Note: this is fun but not an SA since his guards are right there. I do wish they'd let you replay them just for fun. If you didn't get SA on the first try fine, no special suit for you but one of the great things about HM games is redoing levels to try new things.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind ETs being available for the entire duration, even if only the first try counted for challenges. Would add a lot of freedom to how you play them, by letting you try risky and loud strategies without risking failure/your SA rank.

I know they won't, but I kind of want them to do a version of each map that includes EVERY ET set there, just as NPCs you could set for contracts and such. It'd be fun to watch all their routines going and spice up some of the deader areas of the maps (although I know a few ETs probably wouldn't work like this, because of how they affect the map setup itself - like the cardinal that makes the whole church/cemetary in Sapienza into a restricted area).

I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be doing. There is a ton of conflicting info out there. "Bounce off mirror into pond" "Bounce off mirror, hit large rock with a toss, then hit the small rock with a toss right after" "just chuck 12/13/14 coins in the pool" etc etc etc

Nothing seems to be working

You're supposed to bounce a coin off of the mirror onto one stone, and then bounce another coin off of the mirror onto the other stone. I don't think the order matters but I did the one on the left first. I had a little more luck trying to mimic the targeting in this video
