I feel like those posters were the end result of some DARPA project on basilisk hacks

You have to watch out for IKEA frames, since most movie posters are scaled for inches and their frames are metric, so the proportions are wrong.

Just go to Michaels or hell even Home Goods has decent cheap frames... although you'll have to search deep for possible poster sized frames.

Never go to Michaels. It's a goddamn scam and it's bullshit. Find a local framing shop if you really wanna go that far. Otherwise the IKEA frames are good enough and you can just have a matte.

Framing costs a lot though, there's no escaping that.

Michael's is fine if you hit a 2 for 1 sale on prefab frames and you have an even amount of posters to hang. Otherwise, yeah it's a ripoff. Just remember to ensure the top of your posters are touching the ceiling for maximum Feng Shui.

I spent like $30 on one of these snap open/closed frames where you can swap the poster easily. Did I gently caress up?

That and the 50% off custom framing is ALWAYS there - it's bullshit, all lies.
|
# ? Dec 22, 2016 21:28 |

So even with the 50% it's overpriced? Do they do a lovely job?
|
# ? Dec 22, 2016 21:33 |
|
It's just insanely overpriced for the quality.
|
# ? Dec 22, 2016 21:47 |

The quality is pretty much the same at any framing shop, as they all get their frames from the same places mostly.

Walmart has cheap frames near the artificial flowers/candles area. Don't get the "wood" print frames, but the basic black ones look okay and are easy to use. Two brads will hold them securely, and only be small holes in the wall. Haven't tried it with straight pins.

Vintersorg posted:Never go to Michaels. It's a goddamn scam and it's bullshit. I mean buy a frame and then DIY, not get them to do it. I bought a decent matte cutter, empty frames & mattes, and did a bunch myself for less money than any custom framing place.

The Totoro poster also actually acts as a sister piece to Ghibli's other early masterpiece, released in the same year: (so Garden of Words had great posters. Shoot me.)
