It's always funny when artists like Cho draw A Woman Sexily Expressing Herself while talking about how she doesn't care what the critics say, she can do what she wants with her body! Except her body is a cartoon drawn by a horny man as softcore pornography.

Like, man, draw some softcore pornography if that's your thing, but don't dress it up like you're striking a blow for women's rights by drawing Princess Leia's whole rear end.

Warwick Davis, Aaron Paul, and a few others posted pictures of Fisher in her slave outfit in memoriam too. Better start burning crosses on their lawn.

If we want to get even uglier, Mark Hamill just recently tried to force (pun) some girl to get an abortion because his thirty-something year old son "wasn't ready to be a father" yet where's the nerd backlash against that? The Mary Sue stayed conspicuously silent on that one. If you don't believe me and want to hear it from her own words, here's the link.

I never said anything about women's rights or anything of the sort but you guys are acting like these champions of progressivism while also calling for harm on a fellow human being and saying other equally despicable things. You're probably also the type of people who joke about someone getting deservedly raped in prison too. Some of you guys need to take a step back and really reevaluate the militance on your ideals.

He's facing backwards and twisting round, except somewhere along the way the artist got confused and turned his left foot the wrong way round. Cover his left foot and it makes more sense, albeit with slightly janky hips.

This is correct. I will say though, there's also very little worth to playing a game of basketball with two balls and both teams shooting own goals while congratulating one another.

THAT said, this is not the place to have this discussion, it is very clear that no one will be convinced or wants actual discourse. So it's best if everyone just drops it. The only thing that is going to happen is to stir up a moderator who's going to get pissy at the thread at large for not just ignoring someone they're arguing with, and then pissy at the person.

Thrilling the forums since 2001

Don Rosa is an exceptional artist but the colourist also deserves a lot of credit on that page. A great use of highlighting for effect and little things.

But both of them together made an incredible page that can be read without reading like good comics do.

His right foot is backwards too. he looks like when you take an action figure and twist the limbs and head around backwards so only the torso is the wrong way.

Stop derailing about Cho or whoever and just talk about the art. Whether he's an rear end in a top hat or not has no bearing on the reason for this thread which is to discuss good art and bad art. It only leads to derails so knock it off.

Booska mask replica...
On the topic of "artists who are kinda rear end in a top hat-y", who was that one guy who got fired from DC and decided to try his luck with a webcomic about a game dev studio populated with the most generic characters ever (hot chick, beardo, guy dressed like an orc...) and the whole thing became oddly political/religious and at the end turned into an ad for "smart" water...?

To contribute, here's a reminder that the latest issue of Youth In Decline's excellent monograph series Frontier features the work of Rebecca Sugar!

And here's some Philippe Druillet because I really want to pick up those Titan Edition Lone Sloane books...

Hell yeah.

Actual bad comic art, though. I enjoyed the period where Batman's ears kept getting longer and longer.

I wish I could find it as well but there was an artist who used to draw Wolverine's claws as like 2 feet long.

I remember being a kid and having this comic book as one of my handful of beach comics. I thought it was pretty wild and once I read the actual comic about the batman stand-in dude who was a dangerously unhinged batman, I appreciated the cover a lot more. I'd venture to say that's a classic 90s cover, considering the other schlock being hawked.

I'd probably like the 2 foot claw wolverine too, comic book covers that work on the sense of the uncanny really draws potential readers in.

I love Kelly Jones Batman because he looks so completely over the top and theatrical. It's sort of like I imagine Batman must look to the common folk of Gotham, just an illogical human gargoyle with all these jagged points and massive flaps of cape flitting around symmetrically in the darkness. If you saw him wearing the costume in broad daylight he'd look like Jim Aparo Batman, but in the dark he looks like Kelly Jones Batman.

Liefeld has absolutely zero relevance in a discussion involving Kelley Jones and Sam Kieth and is the lowest bearing fruit to go after, so much so that your mod had to put it in the thread title.

At least Rob took his bad art and was able to capitalize it so that he and 7 others were able to gamble on their careers, and ended up changing the face of the comics industry forever so that other talented artists had a fair deal and were no longer handcuffed by Marvel and DC. Dark Horse was the only other relevant place doing it at the time, but they were beholden to their movie licenses, and fans reacted poorly when guys like Jones and Kieth were put on books like loving Aliens instead of an indy title they could flex their creativity on. Without Image, who knows what the field would look like today. What have you accomplished with your bad art?

and much to Rhyno's disappointment, I never got to have lunch with Liefeld. Sorry you can't go to the well on that one rhyno.

Supposedly, on the '89 Batman movie, the first time Michael Keaton got into the Batmobile and closed the canopy it sliced the ears off his costume.
