I liked the X-Files FMV game where you played some random schmo that is looking for Mulder and Scully after they go missing. IF you chose the paranoid dialogue options often enough you'd sometimes see things that weren't there.

I remember that game heavily promoting that Mulder, Scully and the Smoking Man were all prominent characters, and then I think Mulder shows up in one scene at the end, Scully has like five scenes and the Smoking Man only shows up for a brief second if you get blown up in a cabin or something along those lines.

My favorite weird-as-poo poo mid-90s game is Bad Day on the Midway, which was scored and at least partially designed by The Residents and somehow got optioned by Ron Howard for a series that David Lynch was supposed to direct, but a script never came together and the project just fell apart. I dug La La Land though I can see where it might lose some people. It acknowledges the threat of failure but seems to present the idea that if you work hard and are persistent then you'll be successful anyway.
