Definitely try Earth One.
Read this about WW's creator's life and philosophies, cause that's largly what Morrison is exploring in the comic. It's not just being horny without a purpose :)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Moulton_Marston

Not to downplay Marston because he and his partners were very much ahead of their time and Wonder Woman as a concept in the Golden Age is fascinating, but I feel like Morrison has these blind alleys where if he doesn't like what a character's evolved into, he throws EVERYthing out and goes back to the beginning. See: Magneto. Or to a lesser extent, Superman once Grant became enough of a name to have carte blanche.

It's notable that WW:E1 is like the 5th origin story for Wonder Woman in the last 2 years, and the ONLY one that decided to make that stuff central to the character. I'm sure Morrison fans will claim it's because he's the only one willing to address it, but I'd argue it's because everyone else has moved past it.

Luckily, it's a nice, sweet origin past the bondage and kinky hunting festival stuff. I loved this Etta.
And luckily it was the first out of three 2016 WW origins I read.

Jill Thompson's book twists things far more dark and dramatically, and might have had more cause for controversy if anyone payed attention to it.

edit: It's great, though, if you can deal with Wondie being an rear end in a top hat for 90% of the comic.
I remember when it had the totally fitting title of 'A Very Selfish Princess'(or something) before it came out.

I did like his take on Etta, but it's also almost the same take as de Liz's take from LoWW, and I read that one first. I'm actually a little disappointed they're not going that way in the movie seemingly, as movie Etta seems to be a very straight take on the 'shy chubby friend' concept.

Gummy Bear Heaven ... It's where I go when the world is too mean.
I didn't find Wonder Woman Earth One's plot all that compelling or satisfying and others have critiqued Morrison's hamfisted use of feminism in the story.

Art was nice.

I was excited to read the book (and actually pre-ordered it, which I never do) and was really let down when I read it.

I read WW: Earth One as being a commentary about the tension between Wonder Woman as a feminist icon and the fact her origin is not really feminist at all; I thought it worked pretty well as a means of highlighting what feminist takes are up against.

Before this DC Sale ends, is it worth picking up Gotham Academy? Book looks good, but I been out of the loop with DC books ever since New 52.

Gotham Academy is a pretty fun. The last third of the first series before Second Semester is kinda weak since it turns into an anthology series for some reason, but the actual story has picked back up again with Second Semester.

Everything's pretty self-contained too, I don't think there's anything from anywhere else you'd have to read to understand what's going on.

There are the Endgame and Robin War tie-ins. They're skippable, but the Endgame one doesn't have much to do with the event. It's them sitting around telling ghost stories more like a special Halloween issue.

The Lumberjanes/GA crossover is worth reading if you end up getting into it.
