Moatillata posted:Blue album is the absolute top It's never too late to Pavement. I saw them here in Paris. They were preceded by the National, for which they're were multitudes of crying young women 18-22 or so who all left when the National left, so I was able to get right at the front. Great show. I never checked out his solo stuff. Maybe I should.

Pinkerton is a really good album because Rivers has always been really good at writing what he knows. The emotional rawness of being however the hell old he was, back in college, as a famous person, emotionally stunted without any idea of how to relate to or interact with people several years his junior makes for very very good and honest music even if there are a lot of problems with the way he treats and views the women in it (which, again, I think that's the point.) This is why Weezer has never worked past Pinkerton - nobody cares about Rivers truth now, it's not interesting to listen to songs about how hard the rich and famous life is.

I listen to Pink Floyd, a handful of other songs I mostly first heard on Guitar Hero, movie OSTs, exactly four songs from three total anime show thingers. But when I want to remind myself that life is fundamentally suffering, that we are all slowly dying or will meet death shortly as the result of a gruesome accident or otherwise, I listen to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyIFlWDT7M4 Not to feel better. Just to remember.

speaking of damien rice, the annual *mumbles* symphony orchestra's annual contemporary music festival had lisa hannigan doing some new stuff off her new album and it was really good especially when bryce and aaron dessner, timos andres, and pekka kuusisto just came on stage to do an impromptu jam out sesh i know its trivial to figure out where *mumbles* is but i really like their contemporary music festival they always do cool stuff like when sufjan stevens did some stuff off carrie & lowell before it was released AND IM FORCING YOU TO READ THIS POST haha get dunked on

Sufjan Stevens is hella good, his set at outside lands last summer was super fun. Music is great, I've been listening to a ton of classical lately cause I taught a semester of classical music history. It is also real good.
