Really cool visualization there is how the engine doesn't really push out the exhaust gasses with the piston more than it says, "okay I'm done with this flame" opens up the valve and the pressure difference looks as if it nearly gets sucked out in a fraction of a stroke.

MCM show why it's better to just rebuild any entire Mini from scratch instead of relying on bolt on parts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQ8RLM8eWRU (I lol'ed when they mentioned a "small rust spot".)

Is it right after the episode where they welded all the bolts in, resulting in them having to grind them out again because planning ahead is for other people? If I seem bitter, it's only because I want more episodes.

I like seeing those kinds of project, but I think they're over-egging how difficult it is. People have been putting Honda engines into Minis for 20 years. Those subframes are available off the shelf yet they're acting like it was a bespoke part they had made to order.

CAT INTERCEPTOR posted:Late 60's so there is a good change they were def too young to ever be in a car without 3 points at the front. Mandatory rear belts mid 70's, the lap seat belt for the middle passenger was early 90's I think, might have been later. Three point belts were required for the front seats in the US beginning in 1968. My '67 Camaro did not have them, but it did have the hard point in the roof for the shoulder belt (GM knew they were going to be required soon). The Impala has the shoulder belts, you can see them in some of the shots. But they were the type that tucked into a clip in the roof liner, and used a second receptacle. As little as seat belts were used back then, the shoulder belts were used by almost no one.
