Are there any mods that completely remove pop-ups from Central, MiB, Scientist and Engineer from the game? I'm currently using "Disable More VO" and "Stop Wasting My Time" but they still have a number of annoying popups. I've been trying to get an ironman game going recently and it's frustrating enough taking heavy losses because my squad decide to miss multiple 70%+ shots in a row and get crit from across the map while behind heavy cover, having Central and MiB both pop in after the mission to tell me to do better is just loving aggravating

Also I really like this game, but it's amazing how hard it tries to drive me away with its constant, obnoxious VO pop-ups and focus stealing. Just let me play the loving game already and if you really must make me listen to this poo poo over and over at least hire some decent writers and voice actors, thanks

e: Speaking of VOs, why do we get Alien Mouthpiece showing up to talk to us in the final mission right after we see him get mobbed in the cut scene?

There should be an "ambient narrative" toggle somewhere in the vanilla options menu.

So I just sent my ten best dudes away for at least 16 days to infiltrate my first HQ assault in LW2. Should I be expecting some kind of bullshit, like infinite reinforcements? Will going over 100% infiltration make much of a difference?

No reinforcements, so you can take your time. Over-infiltrating will reduce the number of enemies on the map as normal, but this is counteracted somewhat by Advent strength increasing and putting those enemies back while you're waiting for your team to infiltrate further.

HQ missions have a very unique brand of bullshit.

I highly suggest using this mod. Basically gives Sparks EW style foundry projects to upgrade them. poo poo like bonus aim, or starting every mission with shields does a lot to unfuck them.

Bigger issues in LW2;

The get detection penalties (enemies can spot them from 33% farther away than a normal soldier), infiltration time penalties, their repair timers are increased, they cost an absurd amount of resources, their guns come in 3 tiers so they plateau and jump in effectiveness really poorly and their redesigned perk tree makes them weaker relatively to thr other LW classes than they were to normal classes in vanilla.

Adding expensive projects on really doesn't help because its incredibly unlikely LW2 is giving you enough time or resources to invest in that.

Like that mod is fantastic for vanilla Sparks but they're just utterly hosed by LW2 for a variety of reasons and it won't help too much. Plus a bunch of that poo poo is baseline in LW2 (starting with shields, increased aim etc)

If you've done a swarming supply raid before (where you just send a huge force and don't bother infiltrating), it's basically like that. Except harder, with several turrets and a boss pod. But the same strategy applies, just try to set up a killing ground and keep mowing them down until they're gone.

The normal infiltration bonuses still work, but if the region has a high advent strength it's entirely possible it will be pegged at swarming no matter how much you infiltrate.

I actually find HQ assault easier and so far I always just use a 8 men squad in order to save time. There's always nice high ground. The map is huge so the pod is more spread out so there's more chance they don't all come at once

There are.

4 of them, in fact, because there are so many voices, and most of them fit quite well. Note that the first time I got it loaded, my game had a massive fit. It seems to stabilised after that, but I think the first time it organises itself there's just a poo poo load it has to cache for them

Was amusing when one of my rebels turned out to have Ira's voice, and then a short fit of incompetence got her slapped into oblivion by a Faceless.

Yeah, that's why I only use voice packs from games. Ripping the lines directly from the files means there's no background noise or other poo poo and the sound level is consistent.

I really really wish I could use the Bob Ross pack, but the sound quality is just too jarring. :smith:

Der Kommander

I finally beat XCOM2 after playing at release, not understanding the radio tower mission, and accidentally launching it with 3 not-fully equipped guys on ironman. Then rage quitting, obviously.

Anyway, on Commander Ironman, Rangers absolutely decimated everything. Aim PCS + Tracer Rounds meant they were reliably getting 90%+ shots on rapid fire, and Untouchable+Bladestorm makes it so I don't even mind hanging them out to dry.

The only dicey moments of the entire campaign were because I wasn't familiar with the DLC:
1.) I launched the Shen mission the minute it became available. That was, uh...tough sledding with 4-person squads and only ballistic guns.
2.) The Archon ruler made his first appearance on Avenger defense and KO'd like half my team. Had he KOed my specialist with the "wake everyone up at once" move, that might've been enough to end the campaign.

But as soon as I started fielding multiple rangers per mission, the game got immensely easier.

Is there any reason I shouldn't just field 6 Rangers? Would this strategy fall on its face in Legendary?

Fair enough. I haven't touched LW2 and don't plan to do so since it does so much that I'm just not interested in. Don't hate it, just not for me.

I think that mod's incredibly edit-able through the in-game menu though so the prices might be able to be turned down quite a bit, and the rewards definitely boosted to absurd levels.

The continent bonuses aren't tied to a specific continent across different games, they are rolled randomly when you start the game. So, if that bonus where you can remove mods is tied to Europe in your game, yes you will need to own it plus have the appropriate radio towers.
