Does anyone use a Fire 8 tablet for reading .cbz files? Is the screen size ok or do you have to do a lot of scrolling per page?

Gummy Bear Heaven ... It's where I go when the world is too mean.
What's the resolution on it?

I have an Asus with an 8" screen and 2048 x 1536 resolution. It's fine for reading most single pages of comics without zooming in. If the file resolution sucks or if it's an old book with lots of words, I need to zoom in a tad.

I'm 50/50 for zooming in on two page spreads.

Some people read in landscape mode and zoom to width, then just scroll down. That's about the width of a regular comic book.

Just make sure Comixology supports HD comics on it.

Regular or HD 8? I took my HD on vacation and got by fine. It's not my ideal (aka my dead Note 12.2 or fantasy Surface) but the HD was sharp enough to read with little scrolling/zooming.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll hold on pulling the trigger on a Fire and see if I can find something used somewhere over 8". The 1280 x 800 resolution scares me a bit, even though I'm sure it is pretty usable in practice.

Does Marvel still discount books after a year or so? I'm a little surprised by how many issues are still costing $3.99.

Looks like that sale is over now, so oh well.

[edit]

There is a Iron Fist sale. Looks like it stacks with the MARVEL promo for the next hour, so anything worth grabbing from it?

Brubaker / Fraction's Immortal Iron Fist run, at the very least.

Cool, I grabbed them. I already had volume 1 for free when they gave it out a few months ago, so I grabbed Volume 2 and 3 which those runs were in.

Unfortunately with this promotional code, you have to write and draw the comics yourself.

Get Detective Comics #854 through Batwoman #23, Annual #1, then pick up again at Detective #934, which is her Rebirth team series.
Avoid Marc Andreyko's bit except for the Annual.

All the reviews I've seen for it are great. I read the first arc or two and liked it, but didn't keep up (like I didn't keep up with most of the other DC digital first properties).

Ugh, two of the books I was going to get were released last week, so I can't even use the coupon to get the newest Ms Marvel and US Avengers. Also didn't they just have a House of M sale a few weeks ago?
