Bioware really went out of their way to not have anyone drink out of something transparent, because they still can't animate drinking so they have to hide it (although that's admittedly a really difficult thing to animate. Only a few games manage that, like Yakzua Zero for example).

Don't think anyone has actually said the story is good so far, some just don't care if it's bad.
