Man, whatever happened to good satire movies? I'd kill for something on the level of Airplane!, Spaceballs, or Hot Shots. But it seems that ever since Scary Movie kicked off, they've all been pretty much poo poo with only a handful actually funny scenes between all of them.

I saw this a couple of years ago:

It’s a pretty dry documentary about the legal battle over a T-Rex skeleton, with a specific focus on Native American land rights.

The excited 10-year-olds in the audience left about 20 mins in.
Isn’t it supposed to be a pretty solid doc though?

Yeah, it's pretty drat good. But if you're expecting hot dino action you're going to be let down by a doc about a protracted legal fight.

The internet happened. Everything is parodied in every conceivable way 5 minutes after release now.

I'd put Walk Hard above any of those, and the Jump Streets as at least as good.

We need another Walk Hard because most modern satire movies have ruined my faith in the Jewish people.

I gave that show Angie Tribeca a shot the other day, it's basically an attempt to remake Police Squad! with Rashida Jones as the lead. It's got some solid gags but unfortunately the 70-30 ratio of good jokes to terrible ones that ZAZ hit in their prime is flipped

Yeah, I have sympathy for overindulgence in the material when the material is that good, but it could be tighter.

It's easier to do grossout humor than good satire is what it comes down to.

Also, we're not 11 anymore, so the totally awesome and amazing scene where a guy gets kneed in the groin and then barfs up his balls/the Schwartz gets all tied up in the climactic fight isn't asthma-inducing hilarity anymore.

Walk Hard is one of those movies I can watch countless times and it never fails to make me laugh uncontrollably all the way through. The first time I saw it (in theaters), I didn't really see the appeal, but then I rewatched it when it came out on DVD and it clicked for me and it's been one of my all-time favorite movies ever since.

I'm a bit disappointed they didn't go for the book version of Mister Technology: a fat, acne-spotted young man in a black trenchcoat.

Nerd fedoras weren't a thing back then but if it were written today, he'd be wearing one.

Gaiman says it does not fit the current stereotype of tech nerds. Fedora and trenchcoat are now more "tryhard sexual pervert" than nerdy.

I like it. It's way too simple a costume for the vast, awesome cosmos surrounding it, which makes the ghost look sad and slightly creepy.
