Took a look at both the Cora and Jaal scenes and I guess I'll mark their treatment down as... inconsistent? I dunno, maybe it's a side effect of having multiple writers. Still really weird.

Even at home? Even when you're sleeping, loving, or taking a poo poo? I don't think most people would consider that a natural progression. Especially when it's not just a matter of being recorded, but rather active observation by another sapient entity.

Like I said, it could have been brushed off with a single line about him only looking in while you're on duty, but such a line is absent.

Think about shows like Big Brother. They forget the cameras are there recording that stuff quite fast.

While it might feel a bit weird I don't think it'd take long before it was accepted. And if Ryder has been brought up with AI stuff all over I feel she'd be pretty okay with the idea. It's just "How Things Are".

Presumably the ship crew know what the deal is, does that go for the random flings too?

Maybe Ryder specifically. That actually seems to be the case based on the two scenes I just mentioned, but Ryder isn't the setting at large and I think it's a pretty big oversight not to have a clear acknowledgment about how unusual it is.

Doesn't seem that way from the Cora scene, Ryder has to make a point of remindering her that SAM can see everything they're doing.

Mass Effect 2 sets up the means by which the Reapers are defeated, yeah? Resolving the genophage and the geth-quarian war is what gives the galaxy a fighting chance to deploy the Crucible, and both of these problems are developed (and their eventual solutions introduced) in ME2. For Shepard personally, ME2 is also where they transition from a follower of ineffectual authority to a leader and champion in their own right - something that could only really happen after dying, being recruited to Cerberus and completing the Suicide Mission.

I don't think this is a particularly strong argument. The means to defeat the Reapers isn't introduced until the opening of ME3.

Theres nothing inherent about krogan or quarian support of value other than the troop support and if you play your cards wrong you can lose the krogans before the final push with no ill effect, furthermore it's really just bad timing that you have to fix these issues before they'll commit support.

And that's a flaw of ME3 certainly. But their support is largely secondary to the giant super weapon that is the Crucible, and I think we can partially put that on ME2 for working toward a Reaper solution that gave ME3 better options to start with.

SAM is still illegal, it's why Alec quit the Alliance military as an N7 and hosed off to do his own thing after the Alliance couldn't sanction his AI research in front of the Council.

Basically the SAM AIs can't really do much to the outside world unless they're hooked up to a pathfinder. The connection feeds them experiences and sensations and they (theoretically) won't rebel because cutting off that connection means they're basically stuck in a sensory deprivation tank.

The Human Ark's SAM is special because it's the one that Alec built to keep Ryder's mom alive by interfacing directly with a human nervous system. The other Ark's have lovely copies without the physiological overclock poo poo because he knows full well that that wouldn't fly with the Initiative even if he was able to convince them of the other benefits of having SAMs

You seem to be calling Ryder a he here, I'm really confused.

I'm going to say again that it's really bizzare to take a series where it has beloved "weird" aliens like Elcor and Hanar and then make it so the only aliens are the absolute bog standard ones.
It's the stupidest choice.

I'm playing as the male Ryder, although I turned the family into one of the Asian presets instead of the defaults. I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with the actor's performance. I will likely not be playing the single player campaign again as female Ryder.

Nope, it's an augment, you need to apply it to a weapon during crafting.

You add augments when you craft the gun - only weapon mods can be added to an existing weapon.
