This was in the original as well, otherwise there'd be a set of dalmatians that would be missable. I think you're confused in that Monstro could sometimes not appear again if you traveled to him apparently, but he's definitely still accessible after you clear that world.

Well in the original version at the very least he'd disappear from the map after clearing him instead of being able to easily warp to him like in Final Mix(and since only a masochist does the Gummy Ship routes when they don't have to it's easy to think that Monstro becomes inaccessible after beating it in the original version)

No, you could still warp to him, and he's still on the map. It's just a bit random if he's there and may take a couple of tries if it happens to miss.

Monstro, Atlantica, and Hollow Bastion have similar issues, as does the Cave of Wonders section of Agrabah

Many areas in KH1 felt like a chore (I'm looking at you Deep Jungle), KH2 felt much better in that regard.

EDIT: Also yeah the Cave of Wonders was incomprehensible to me. That area desperately needed at least a mini-map.

I've never really cared much for the platforming and exploration in the KH games.

Even in KH2FM the Cavern of Remembrance just seems like a bit of tedium between me and the hallway of death and Data Organization XIII.

I remember not getting anywhere on that world till very late in the game my first playthrough because I couldn't get past that barrel smashing trial

Also I just realized that the reason why we stopped having those Villain Council scenes after Agrabah(or Malificent interacting with any of it's members or commenting on their fates) is because hypothetically you could end up not clearing one of either Atlantica or Halloween Town till after Hollow Bastion(which happened to me with Atlantica cause I kept getting lost), since you only need to clear one of them and Monstro* to unlock Neverland(which has to be the most misleading world names since you never actually go to Neverland proper) and thus Hollow Bastion afterwards

*now I'm wondering how Monstro would work if you didn't bother clearing it till after either Neverland or Hollow Bastion since Riku plays a big role in it's story

There's actually scenes all about that yes.

Like if you only complete Olympus Coliseum after killing Malificent she won't appear talking with Hades, and in Mostro if you complete after killing her Riku will appear controled by Ansem and the scenes will be a bit different. It's kinda neat actually how they took that into consideration

Have to disagree on that point, exploring the Cavern of Remembrance was hella fun for me and I wish every KH World was that well-made and involved, rather than being empty combat arenas like so many of KH2 and BBS's other areas or just annoying to navigate like KH1's areas.

KH1 with actually good platforming and not tiny areas seemingly randomly connected would be cool. And a map.

I was wondering what would happen since Riku is supposed to help you fight in the Parasite 2nd fight

Like if he was Ansem he should be able to own it no problem but instead he just leaves which I guess makes sense because Ansem is also a heartless

I feel like most of BBS's areas are a nice middle ground. Nothing too labyrinthine, but there's more variation and jumps and things to do than in KH2. Neverland is a good example there, I feel.

However, I'm also the crazy person who genuinely likes KH1's level design so yeah

I know there's also a scene depending on the order where Snow White appears with the villain council instead of Alice. I think it's if you go to Deep Jungle first, and most people don't because Wonderland is a two star difficulty while Deep Jungle is three.

It was weird seeing that the first time years later.

Hahahaha 0.2 fuckin' owns. A UE4 tech demo to get everyone used to the art style of KH3, and while we're here, might as well explain why Mickey Mouse was topless during the ending of KH1

Also retcon the ending of that game into not mattering so much because it wasn't a real Kingdom Hearts ok

EDIT: Okay the post-credits scene is rolling and it's really amazing the corner they wrote themselves into with all their fuckin' retcons - there's no plausible explanation for why Mickey would've not mentioned Aqua throughout all the events post-KH1, so they give some lazy excuse that leaves Mickey and Yen Sid looking like unfeeling psychopaths, and then everyone has to just sort of be ok with it

Except maybe Riku (maybe), Sora, Donald, and Goofy have no idea who the hell Aqua is. Sora would at best feel something tingle in his heart and like an Indian looking at a moose smoking a cigarette a single tear might roll down his cheek. Telling the heroes "yeah, there were these three cool guys, but they all got owned" is pointless.

tbh, sora being a suicidal idiot who would charge into hell and then die if he heard that poo poo makes a lot of sense to me considering the famous hollow bastion suicide

To be fair, if I thought the fate of the known universe hinged on a dog, a duck, a pair of chipmunks, and doofus who is inexplicably some kind of Captain Planet/Goku space samurai, I would probably omit the time three master level warriors trained from childhood got Jedi mindtricked, possessed, savagely beaten and then CAST INTO A SHADOW DIMENSION OF UNENDING DARKNESS I'd prrrrrrrrrrobably leave that out.

To be fair Deep Jungle is probably the least important world in Kingdom Hearts 1 in terms of plot relevance, so it not coming up in anything after Chain of Memories isn't surprising even if we ignore the legal reasons that led to it not reappearing after that point

Namine screwed up while putting Sora's memories back, Deep Jungle was swallowed by darkness, and it's still stuck in the realm of darkness and Aqua just never saw it in 0.2.

I'll take my check in the mail, Square-Enix.

I'm pretty sure it was explained in a interview with Nomura after BBS where when the tower moves from a place to another (in this case to Twilight Town in KH2) people's memories from the tower get removed for some reason I dunno.

I never got the Deep Jungle map confusion. It's not a great map but it's at least visually different area to area. Monstro and parts of Hollow Bastion are way worse for me because of that.

it's less that the map is confusing (though the vines area up top is a pain) and more that the map just sucks, and if you fall off somewhere, it's an ordeal to get back up to wherever you were.

Well I've officially decided on giving up on finishing Kingdom Hearts 1 Final Mix HD for the time being, I had forgotten how bullcrap Ansem is as a boss, and I just do not have the patience for him these days, admittedly I had a bunch of other content in KH1 to finish as well(getting all the Dalmatians, doing the Hades Cup, fighting the various optional bosses), but while KH1 is still a really good game, it's also really tedious in parts, so I'm fine with not finishing it for now

So off to Re: Chain of Memories HD, which will be interesting since I never beat either the original version on the GBA or the PS2 version

Are the Bulky Vendors in KH2 dependent on frames? Now that I'm at the endgame and getting more into the synthesis stuff, I'm noticing a problem where they despawn immediately after spawning. Not sure what it could be, if not the 60 fps thing.
