I didn't like her at first, but that's because she gave me a Serena Chacha vibe, and I spent a lot of my undergrad in art classes, which led to me dealing with a lot of those "I am an artist  " types. Once I realized she wasn't pretentious and incompetent, and is, in fact, adorable and humble, I was hooked.I do think that the votive candle is a little goofy and affected, but overall, she's amazing.

Valentina isn't particularly quirky imo, certainly not on the level of Katya. She's just very latin. CLF is a lot more tryhard quirky and that's honestly wearing thin. Valentina is just very sweet, confident, and so far looking very competitive.

Man, it kind of sucks that we never got to see her lipsync something she's comfortable in. So many times queens win at the lipsync because they're best at feeling the song and I get the feeling Aja wouldn't know sexy in the slightest.

Hell, listen to her talk about her drag life, and you hear her mention 2 things: 1) Being sexy. 2) Wearing designer outfits. She can kinda serve a look, and that seems to be about it.

Just watched the episode on youtube. HOLY poo poo that runway!  Those sidekicks were... gently caress. Well, thank you untucked for giving me a reason to dislike Aja. I didn't need one, but it's nice to have one. Her lip sync was impress-- the moves were impressive. But there was an air of (generally understandable) desperation about the performance. Aja seems to be a queen who goes for maximum impact, but hasn't learned how to go for maximum effect. If she's a quick study, she might be able to fix that during the competition. On the other hand, she turned herself into Gossamer from Looney Tunes and though she turned it out. You can add me to team Valentina. I should find her affected and obnoxious, but I don't. She just seems so drat earnest and happy to be here. She's the Labrador puppy of drag! There are those queens who apply to be on the show every year for years, and Ru always says that they weren't ready yet. I genuinely believe that. She sees something in them, but recognizes that they aren't polished enough yet. Then there are queens who I'm sure Ru sees their audition video and says to World of Wonder, "She'll do," fully recognizing that they aren't going to make it past Snatch Game at the very latest. I think this goes right in with the theory that Ru goes into every season with an idea of who she wants to win that season, of who she thinks would be good for the Drag Race brand. Obvious cases are Bianca del Rio and Bob the Drag Queen. I also think that she is willing to change her mind if someone else surprises them, like Chad Michaels and Sharon Needles. Or if the heir to the throne fails to impress, like Kennedy Davenport surviving all the way to the final five, further than she should have, and then leaving us with a lackluster final 3 because Ru recognized that there was no way she could justify crowning Kennedy. So if one of these sacrificial lambs can actually surprise Ru, then so be it. But there is no way that Ru ever expected Kimora to go more than a couple of episodes into the season.

I can't believe how pretty Farrah is. Even out of drag... what a loving gorgeous face. Also Cynthia's Cu Cu explanation in the werk room was everything. I know people are so annoyed with cu cu this and cu cu that, but I can't get enough of it. I wish she was my crazy Auntie.

I have no idea what the difference is between Instagram makeup, real life/stage makeup, and filming makeup is for a drag queen, but do you think that's why Aja's paint is so weird? I mean, Trixie put a ton on too, but she didn't look as cakey or messy.

They both paint for the next town over, but Trixie's is purposefully huge and ridiculous looking, making her eyes huge etc, with clean lines and blending. Aja just has incredibly thick makeup that hides her face. Back row it probably looks fine, but in the front seats or television it's just a heavy mess.
