Hey, are you listening to a word I'm saying?

CharlieFoxtrot posted:

I've finished Horizon (plat), Nioh, RE7, COD: IW, and, Nier: A since February, with 30 hours in Persona 5.

I think this is the most concentrated time I've spent gaming in years

I got my PS4 in late January and I sure never played on my Wii U or 3DS or PC with the same fervor. Despite sharing it (I bought it for my wife) and spending a lot of time on my job and socializing I've played through FFXV, The Last of Us, Horizon, three Uncharted games, I've clocked some time on Guilty Gear, and I'm about 30 hours into Persona. I don't even know what to play next, but I'm hoping P5 lasts me until Yakuza 0 or Nier:A sees a good discount or something else I'm interested in comes out.

If I had kids I probably wouldn't want them around anime to begin with, but I really wouldn't want them playing a visual novel where a teacher rapes a student in the very first arc.

Persona is one of those games that in my more naive years I would have bought on the recommendation of goons alone, not stopping to realize "hey, there's nothing in this that I would personally find enjoyable or worthwhile to do."

people that've never played a game like it before should def try it out if they're interested, but if you didn't like 3 or 4 then obviously you're not gonna like this one

Yeah, it's fun when I get to play it and infilitrate palaces and what not, but 85% of my time with it so far has been mashing through endless dialog and being told to go to bed by a cat.

I think if the concept of a game doesn't immediately grab me on a visceral level then it's just extremely unlikely I'll ever get more than a few hours into it. I think the last game I was iffy on that I ended up really enjoying was Mortal Kombat X, all the rest I could immediately tell if I would have a good time.

Just got a ps4 pro and really enjoying it.

I got persona 5 to start with (ps3 game, I know lol - not exactly pushing the hardware here) but have been trying the demos for games with ps4 pro abilities, like tomb raider etc. before I decide what games to pick up next. With the monitor I have it looks real purdy and motion-smooth.

Also been trying out Let It Die until I get Nioh or something. Which is a nice time-waster.

Oh and is there a megathread or private games server thread for goon friend adds? Also will be looking to check out threads for PS4 games that goons play together lots.

The most I have done with those friends is that shipping minigame in Assassin's Creed Black Flag.

For my first game aside from Persona 5 I'm looking for a game that will be the best value for rounding out the gameplay of my system. Especially if it has multiplayer.

Uncharted 4 looks like it has a lot of multiplayer content to dig into. But if there's anything else that would really round out my system you think would be a must-get I'm all ears.

I'm also looking at Nioh and Horizon Zero Dawn.

I won't be buying any FPS games though (because I'd rather play those with mouselook on my PC) and generally speaking, I'll only be getting the console exclusives. (With occasional exceptions, like if the PS4 version plays a lot better than the PC port, or if the PS4 community is way more active for that game. I am considering Nier Automata for example.)

Nioh has potentially hundreds of hours of playtime if you like developing your character, co-op etc.

It's a very meaty action RPG and the upcoming DLC just adds even more stuff
