My girlfriend's company has several advancement opportunities in Lake Wylie, SC which is 25 minutes from downtown Charlotte. The opportunity for her would be fantastic and we'd get an apartment for $140 a month. They would also pay for our moving expenses which would include fuel to get two cars there.

I was born and lived in the southside of Charlotte until I was 12. I remember, uhh, not much, but from what I do remember theres a shitload of traffic and megachurches. Charlotte is a legit big city now though. Great nightlife if you're a frat guy.

Having spent a substantial amount of time in both the only difference is the prevalence of southern accents (only slightly more in the Carolinas than Indiana), color of the dirt and it actually gets cold in Indiana.

There's definitely some influence from what you describe, but there's also a bunch of very smart and very good people I still keep up with that live there. The southside of Charlotte is like any upper-middle-class suburb of a major city. Plenty of progressive folk! Rhyno, don't expect to be able to get from Lake Wylie to downtown in 25 minutes. During rush hour it's more like 1.5 hours. Enjoy Carowinds!

Yeah, but remember, as part of killing HB2 they banned localities from making any anti-discrimination measures until 2020 and gave the Legislature direct control over all matters relating to public bathrooms. Charlotte's going to have to put up with the state breathing down their neck constantly, looking for excuses to crush anything progressive.

I have been watching Iron Fist on Netlfix and it is easily the poorest of the Marvel Netflix series. It is just...bad. One review broke the glass with a single word that now it is all that stands out and makes the whole story seem so weak. That word, is mansplaining. Typically I don't read into that kind of stuff much; but someone really should tell Danny that he just comes off as a total butthole. All the time.

So, I sat down with my boss (who is a pretty swell guy) and told him I had an opportunity. He went and got approval for a pay increase - $77,000 to $82,245 plus a third week of vacation. I'm hoping it was smart to go see my boss and stick around this circus where at least I know what I'm doing. If not, well, I'm apparently employable for more money elsewhere.
