Constituency and ward parties already can't hold meetings due to the local election campaigns, so I'm worried how this is going to be organised at a local level. Emergency meetings straight after the local elections?

Are you talking abour the Tories or Labour? CLPs are still meeting during the local election campaign.

I would be very interested to know if this has taken local Tory parties by complete surprise as well.

I mean, I guess, but I think they will keep with the tradition to prevent a Tory govt with a decent majority actually doing lords reform. They already showed a willingness to do it previously.

Yes the rear end in a top hat with a track record of winning his constituency.

The rear end in a top hat whose departure you're cheering, to be replaced by the geniuses who masterminded the loss of a permalabour council ward just last week.

Before I've had to vote in my home town's constituency which has steadily elected Andrea leadsom but I now live in a Bristol constituency with a Labour MP that had a Tory runner up last time, so I'm excited to actually have my vote sort of matter for once.

That's my silver lining, please do not take it from me.
